Mebe is correct that this is the data of an average EPL team at best So considering we have some elite players ... Just wow
Drop xhaka play torreira Chambers is fine as a cb when amn comes back before hector Holding should obviously start Hopefully saka gets a game again Horrible performance. I feel like the come back was more to do with the team than manager
FWIW, a special f*** you to NBC Goal Zone for not getting to highlights from this game until 45' into their program.
Passion is a double edge sword and I love his passion especially when we were 1-2 down...he was putting himself out there to make something happen.
LOL Arsenal are currently on track to concede 63 goals. Thank god they finally held a team under 20 shots.
Yes - and should have conceded the tying pen vs a relegation level team - a 3rd goal! Obviously we can't always play teams in the bottom 3 places
Make Guendouzi the captain insread of Xhaka. He's the player that drove the team forward today and he was virtually the only player attempting penetrating passes to play teammates in behind.
The only logical explanation for the Xhaka love from Emery is that he must be the film-session-lovingist player in the squad.
I'm just watching this now. I'm up to 74' and regardless of how this turns out at FT, I only have one thing to say: We are WEAK. Players, mentality, discipline, coaching, tactics. Whilst I have NOT been expecting them to sack Emery mid-season, if we keep playing like this I will probably change my mind. And I heard that Vinai gave Emery the dreaded vote of confidence this week. So hmm... OK that's a little bit more than one thing to say. But that's my main feeling. Edit: I'm now at 84' and we scored 2 great goals to snatch the lead. So I guess maybe I should take "mentality" out of it. But the rest stands. If we keep the lead I'll say "well done lads, BUT..."
Matteo probably deserves to be one of the five co-captains, assuming Emery is sticking with that model. Has he named anybody other than Xhaka-strophic at this point?
It seems pretty clear to you, me and only a million other fans, impartial observers, journos, pundits, etc.
Yeah, this. This was the last straw for me. Tbh, I was ready to fire Emery at halftime, and now that we actually ended up winning, I'm not sure how much that changes, at least at it pertains to how much time he should get in my book. This is the result of a few things which are compounding against us. Emery is not really a big name in football, so he can't intimidate the players by his reputation. He doesn't communicate very well, leading to poor man-management. Finally, his tactical understanding of the game is probably pretty good, but it's too schizophrenic. There's no good dividing line between the ideas he imposes on the players by design, and the ideas the players force on him by circumstance. The upshot is, we have a lot of quality in the squad, but not so much personality on the pitch. And in contrast to prior years, we've done pretty well in the transfer market over the last year or so. It's our match preparation and player development that's holding us back at the moment.
Special mention goes to Chambers and his contribution in a limited number of minutes. If Ainsley's injury proves to be serious, we'll be seeing a lot more of Callum. Ps. I have not exactly been a fan of his, in an Arsenal shirt, but I am always willing to give him a 2nd 3rd 4th or 5th chance.
I don't think so. From the summer on, it's been pretty clear that it's Raul and maybe Edu who are in charge. And the story is, they spent next year's transfer money last summer, so there's an urgency to get top four from the suits above Emery that there hasn't been in prior years. We need better results or better team identity on the pitch or both, and if we don't get them soon, I don't see Emery lasting past Christmas. And frankly, the timing might depend on who would be willing and available to take the job on a caretaker basis, and the ideas they could impose in a short time frame.
