I do think we may have a Shevchenko sighting at the bridge this weekend.

I wonder if he'll start though.

JM will probably start Pizzaro and Kalou upfront. When Kalou spends 60-70 minutes skying the ball into the stands and missing sitters hopefully we will see Sheva and he can make the most of his time.

I heard he was exceptional against Italy. What more does he have to do Jose?

he was very good indeed. It's time Jose plays Sheva and Pizza at the same time. With our injuries, this might be a blessing in disguise.

    -------------Cech
    Beletti-----Alex-----Terry-----ACole
    -------------Mikel
    SWP----------Essien-----------JCole
    --------Sheva-------------Pizarro

BBC reports that Drogs doubtfull, as we all knew, for tomorrow due to the knee injury from Villa

    http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11661_2727060,00.html

hopefully he is not out too long, last week CFC tv indicated he could be out 2-4 weeks

I'd like to see sheva start with Pizarro, in a 4-4-2 with J Cole, please, please start J.Cole, SWP, Ess and Mak, not sure the 4-3-3 is going to work with out Lamp and Drogs but perhaps Malouda could take Lamps place inside in a 4-3-3, he does not seem shy about shooting.

Anyone know the status of Carv's health and return date? edit I see he played for Portugal and is ready to go excellent news

I'd go with Alex over Ben Haim

Provided Sheva and Joey get to start a game, I think we'll have 2 goals in this one. I'd love to see Sheva get into some form and finally pick up the pace a bit.

Managers, especially those like Murinho, often seem to be hesitant in starting players who've 'whined' about playing time. This is why I doubt Shevchenko will start next game, regardless of how fit or in need he is. He will probably come out as a sub for Kalou in the 2nd half.

that lineup could produce some quality football.

Love the strength up the middle. SWP and Sheva would be a blazing right side, and JCole / Pizarro the 1-2 threat. A very clever line up. If the defensive assignments are handled properly this could prove a very difficult layout to match. Marking?

Latest today has Mourinho saying Drogba is out of the game - ho-hum.

And, in the best part of it all, a favourite whinge of mine as well, is that our S American won't be rested enough for the game, as he won't be back until late Friday from playing for Peru.....lets get more S Americans

Tough game coming up, wouldn't be surprised at a tough 1-0 slug fest...the one goal going to either team.

I think the Drogba injury may be a blessing in diguise. Shevchenko will most likey get a chance to show his worth here. I think he'll turn out good. He's a classy guy and model professional and you know he's been working hard behind the scenes.

Still, the Drogba injury hurts like a fu*ker

Sounds like Pizzarro may be out too, so I believe Jose may have to play 4-3-3.

    Cech
    Belletti - Alex - Terry - ACole
    Essien - Makalele - Mikel
    SWP - Shevchenko - JCole
(Cudicini, Ben Haim, Sidwell, Kalou, Malouda)

If he chooses to continue with a 4-4-2, it will probably look like

    Cech
    Belletti - Alex - Terry - ACole
    SWP - Essien - Mikel - JCole
    Kalou - Shevchenko
(Cudicini, Ben Haim, Makalele, Malouda, Sinclair)

I definitely like the 4-4-2 with Sinclair finally getting a deserved place on the bench and some time on the pitch as a sub. Just a matter of how well a Kalou-Sheva partnership up front works out.

The more I look at the 2 lineups I have above, the more I think Jose really should go with the 4-4-2. This is the formation that has made us unbeatable until we switched back to the 4-3-3. And this is the exact same formation (with 4 of the exact same players) that saw England two 3-0s in the past week.

We are missing the 3 players who were the pillars last season. Lamps, Drogs and Carvalho. But still the side has the quality to beat Blackburn. It looks like it will be kalou and sheva up front. I hope Jose doesnt play sheva in the drog role and have malouda and j.cole running in on the flanks. Oh i just wish pizza's match had ended a little sooner. He and sheva would have been much better.

My guess, even though its not J.Cole's fav position

    Belletti --- Alex --- Terry --- Cashley

    SWP ---- Essien ---- Mikel ---- Malouda/J.cole

    -------kalou (maybe J.cole here) ----- Sheva ---

I'd rather have us go 4-2-2 diamond. We have no creativity in a flat 4-2-2, especially with the Mikel and Essien pairing.

    Belletti----Alex----Terry----Cole

    -------------Maka-------------

    -----Essien-----------Mikel----

    ------------J. Cole---------

    ------Sheva-------Kalou-------

I see JM fielding a line-up more like this though...(4-1-4-1/4-3-3)

    Belletti----Alex----Terry----Cole

    -------------Maka-------------
    ---------Essien----------------
    ------------------Mikel
    SWP----------------------Malouda/JCole

    ------------Sheva--------------

    What's he that wishes so?
    My cousin Wrath? No, my fair cousin;
If we are mark'd to die, we are enow
To do our Clelseas loss; and if to live,
The fewer players, the greater share of honour.
God's will! I pray thee, wish not one player more.

    But I digress...Play Mak, J. Cole and Sheva,,,Go Chelsea

I'm just happy that for the first time in a while I get a weekend to myself (fiance is out of town), and I get to watch football/american football/baseball all weekend uninterrupted. Hopefully the Blues do better by me than the Red Sox did last night...

my guess is that maybe we will do something like this

    Belletti --- Alex --- Terry --- A. Cole

    --------------Maka

    SWP ---- Essien ---- Mikel ---- Malouda/J.cole

    -------kalou/Pizzarro -----

with Sheva replacing Maka at some point
