I would love to see Pizarro and Sheva up front, but Drogba and Pizarro will always be more effective IMHO, so agreed.

I would say it's more likely we'll draw, but our chances of winning are greater than those of losing :)

Our away record at Villa Park isn't great. I just hope we win so that srd's neighbour will be pissed off :)

    Get over it.

Id watch the game if it was a freehand artist drawing a frame every 5 minutes.

he needs a little break, even though his form has been excellent as of late and i'd rather he played.

so this is who I would play

    -------------------------------Cech
    PF/Belleti----------Alex/Ben Haim--------Terry--------ACole
    ------------------------Obi/Maka
    SWP-------------------Essien-----------------------Malouda
    -------------------------JCole
    -------------------------Drogba

subs: 2 defenders i mentioned above, Pizarro, Kalou/Sheva, Sidwell

I like that lineup. Kalou has had enough chances as the support striker, it's time to give Joey a run-out.

the only thing I worry about is the speed of Young. Ferreira or Belletti are just not quick enough to handle his runs.

Hopefully they will now just fix the toe as well and give him the necesary rest, won't miss many League games this month.

Not sure if related but often if you have an injury affecting the feet it changes how you run, cut etc and can cause worse injuries, just bite the bullet now and fix the toe. Ballack will be back for Oct and Nov if necesary.

Hate to see Supah's career go belly up for a broken toe the Club does not want to fix

What are the chances of Joe Cole starting? Was that whole locker-room bust up thing with Jose confirmed or a non-story made up by the media? When is Ballack supposed to be fit? It would have been nice to plug him in for Lamps.

i thought that way about ferreira until i saw him shut down ronaldo at the end of last season. then i thought "why the F*CK haven't you done that all damn year?!?!?!" i think he has the quickness, just not always the best decision-making. belletti i've not seen enough of yet (but god knows that barca bench has - maybe i should ask it).

I was raised a Sawx fan, I think it might be in my blood, but for someone reason Im always an optimistic Blue, not even this crappy transfer season could bring me down. Dont get me wrong while watching a match I probably chew all my nails off, but this Mourinho-JT-Frank lead team gives me as much confidence as any team Ive ever supported(right up there with belichick and BRadys pats anyways).

    Cech
    Belletti Alex Terry ACole
    SWP Essien Mikel Malouda
    Drogba Pizzarro

    Cudicini BenHaim JCole Sheva Sidwell

The defense is pretty much set, apart from the choice between Alex and Ben Haim. I have the feeling that Alex will earn his first start this weekend. Ben Haim on the bench to cover for any incidences to the back 4.

The midfield pretty much picks itself with Lampard out. Sidwell has to be on the bench since we don't seem to have anymore CMs, despite him not deserving the place on the bench on current form.

Drogba and Pizzarro together is currently our best strike partnership. Sheva should be near returning to fitness, and will probably be introduced back to the squad this match and should make a late appearance. All in preparation for his return to the starting 11 in an upcoming match (whether or not he deserves it...) Joe Cole is on the bench to stop him from whining too much, and this will probably mean that Kalou misses out on a place in the squad.

I think Kalou will feature in this match somehow, I don't know why though.

Unless he's injured, and I missed it :S

I hope not. I am getting sick and tired of his goofy ass racing around the park and then skyrocketing the ball past the net to Neptune. His finishing is awful and needs serious attention

    I'd play this:

    ---------------------CECH----------------------
    ---------------ALEX--------TERRY--------------
    -BELLETTI------------------------------A. COLE-
    ---------------------MIKEL---------------------
    -SWP-----------------------------------J. COLE-
    ---------------------ESSIEN--------------------
    --------------PIZARRO----DROGBA--------------

I really think Joe Cole deserves a start at this point. How can he prove his immense worth if he's not given the opportunity to play 90 minutes? Malouda has been great, but Cole is just such a gamewinner. If he's given a start and disappoints, then we'll talk.
