Well, this match will determine whether the team truly took a step forward against Cottbus last week or if it was just another "one-off" performance to ease the criticism of the team from the press and the fans.

Rostock has not won a point yet this season and will come in fighting to take their first three in front of their home fans.

However, historically, we usually have problems against Rostock in Rostock. We have only lost one of the our last ten matches against Rostock, however, they have not beaten any other club at home more than they have beaten us.

And, this past week, Rostock signed their old striker Victor Agali from the Turkish League. The 28 year-old used to always seem to save his best matches for us. Let's hope history doesn't repeat itself. I think because of Agali's height, Markus Brzenska will take on the task of marking him. I am not so worried about Agali because of his lack of match practice.

Some other "interesting news". Rostock coach Frank Pagelsdorf played 102 matches for BVB during his playing career. In turn, BVB coach Thomas Doll was a Hansa Rostock player from 1979 through 1986. Of course, that would have been in the old East German League......

I can't give a good guess on a score. Depends on the attitude of our players. I believe Rostock are coming to fight. We normally have problems with teams who come to fight.

when is you coach going to realize that petric is a striker and not a central mid/playmaker..there is no way that valdez is better then petric..i agree with putting kovac on the bench because he has been very bad but petric is a good player who just needs a chance in his right position..

Dude, maybe you should ASK why Valdez started ahead of Petric today instead of jumping to conclusions.

Petric is still nursing a bit of a thigh injury and THAT is why he didn't start!

And when Petric came in, HE PLAYED AS A STRIKER!!!

Federico is playing the central midfield position now.

And he's playing it damned well, I might add......

Guys, in my opinion, we were f#cking LUCKY today.

We did not play "badly", but once again let an "inferior" opponent outwork us for much of the match.

How Rostock didn't have at least three goals today is beyond me.

And once again, it took bringing Buckley in with another striker to get our freakin' offense going. Buckley came in for a better performing, but still ineffective Kuba and Petric came in for a sorry ass Valdez, who cost us another glorious goal chance by taking a selfish shot rather than passing into the middle where he had Federico and I believe Kringe waiting for a pass.....

Federico with a great effort on the match winning goal.

According to "kicker", Dede suffered a torn thigh muscle. That would usually keep a guy out for three weeks, but when he had one last season, he was back in two. We'll see if he's back for Bremen on 14 September. If all goes well, he should be accompanied by not only our new logo on the jerseys, but also by ALEXANDER FREI!

Petric has a thigh strain. But, he should play for you guys in the upcoming internationals. Doll didn't want to chance pushing him 90 minutes and since Klimowicz scored twice last week, that made the decision to use Petric as a sub easier.

I think Petric will start at striker in our next game against Bremen on the 14th. Hopefully, he'll be starting up front with Frei.
