I think this one will be a real indicator of where we fit in the Western Conference. I know its early in the season to be saying that, but i think OKC has something to prove this year, and sees SRFC as standing in its way. Should be another good game!
Cal Expo security was a mess. Someone thought it was a good idea to replace 12 people with the wands with 4 metal detectors. About half the fans got in before gametime. Lotta pissed off fans today. The game - wow. Lookout, as we get better through the season, we might be on top.
When Iwasa is on, he is dominant in this league. Damn, was he on yesterday. Same cannot be said for Mr. Center Ref in the second half. He was handing out yellows like Halloween candy to people in red jerseys, while the guys in the white were hacking and yanking without even a talking-to by Mr. Magoo. (shrug) That goal at the end of the first half was the back-breaker for OKC. The way those guys were playing, they had a legit shot to get back into the match at 3-1, but not at 4-1. If nothing else, our guys were able to choke out the match with a big lead. I'm not entirely convinced, though, because OKC got some glorious opportunities that they squandered or Cohen saved.
It may be just me and may be related to the Republic's dominance of this match, but I have seen MLS teams that didn't have as good a midfield.
If you believe FiveThirtyEight's global club soccer rankings (take with all appropriate grains of salt), Republic (along with several other USL teams) is currently a better team than San Jose or Colorado. https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/global-club-soccer-rankings/
