"Frank Lampard has confirmed that Tammy Abraham will be in the Chelsea squad for tomorrow's crucial London derby against Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge but the leading goalscorer is not fully fit, while Ruben Loftus-Cheek could also make the bench against Jose Mourinho's side.

However, N'Golo Kante, Christian Pulisic and Callum Hudson-Odoi have all been ruled out with the head coach describing the American winger's ongoing issue as a "difficult injury".

Kante is expected to miss about three weeks after injuring his right abductor in the opening minutes of Monday night's 2-0 defeat against Manchester United.

The injury also rule him out of the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 game against Bayern Munich in West London on Tuesday evening, with Pulisic and Hudson-Odoi also now expected to be absent.

Chelsea press conference live: Frank Lampard on Spurs, Jose Mourinho, Abraham injury and Kante
Centre back Andreas Christensen made a trip to Italy on Wednesday to be fitted with a specialised mask to allow him to play having broken his nose in the first half against United. The Dane was substituted at the break for Kurt Zouma.

"N’Golo is not fit, he has a muscle injury," Lampard said. "Similar to Arsenal. He'll hopefully be back in three weeks. Pulisic is not fit and no exact date. It's a difficult injury.

"Ruben is in the squad. He is not fit to start but in the squad. Andreas went to get a mask and has trained with it and is available for selection Tammy has trained the last two days. He is probably about 70% and he is in the squad."

daaaaaam good thing we sat still in market board :mad:

And Lamp will get the blame and The Board can get another fancy continental next season for the first 2 months...so we can play like ...well how Lamp has us playing if we only had a spare attacker or 4 who could score and a left back who could defend.

(like the board I will be lazy leave the hard work of creating the nuts and bolts of the first post to another who I will blame if not perfect or if MST is not present:cautious::D)

Hopefully Tammy can start at least, as we do not even have the parts to even try a false 9.

Not forgetting Giroud, (like Lamp has too much and often), but he has been ineffectual in starts and better I think to bring him in early in 2nd half with or in leiu of Tammy if he wears out, after our initial burst of energy and fierce high press against tired and spotty tots cb's.

Unless it is still a bit of injury I would really like to see Tomori start, not sure why he is ignored of late, of course with Rud, Az and James. Kov and Mount also have to start. And Kepa please.

We need new players. But the transfer market window in January was not really filled with goodies and potential signings. Sigh. It was what it was.

Pulisic fit would be a tremendous asset right now, as would RLC and CHO all ready and fit and firing. Willian and Mount just got tired. That is what happens with the creative players. We just do not have the creative depth that we need. Cannot really blame that on the manager. Outside of Tammy we need players who can score goals. Kovacic needs to score more goals. He has the potential. The others - Michy, Barkley, Pedro, etc - not so much potential.

Hard to see how this game goes. But 3 points is crucial for us. I'm just not sure how we can get them. This game has DRAW written all over it.

Kepa is really out of this team, huh? I'm mind********ed on this one. Do not think Frank has got this right at all. There must be a lot we don't know.

Did Tomori insult Lampard or something?

I'm guessing the guy's confidence has suffered with his poor run of form. It happens.

He'll be back... y'know, like Arnie!

Giroud is like a new signing. He shoots and he gets the ball on target. We need to hit in more crosses for him. We have Reece James taking corners. Mount is pressing high and looks sharp. Kovacic and Jorg playing well. Good performance thus far. Willian for Barkley at some point would give us more goals imho
