You can root for CAM-NZ as well as THA-CHI ending in draws. Then and only then the Argies would make the R16
HT 0-0. Netherlands 5(1)-(1)7 shots(sog), 0-1 corners, 1-1 offsides, 8-3 fouls, 1-11 tackles, 3-14 clearances, 4-0 blocks, 52% possession, 78% (175/224) - (115/157) 73% passing. Canada have done more defending, Netherlands block shots by getting in the way.
Miedema's decision making in building up play still isn't consistent enough for me, but her ability to open up space for a shot is world-class. That shot off the post would have been such a good goal.
After a shaky start, the Dutch came on strong in the last 20 minutes of the half. Miedema with a great turn and I'm sure would like to have that shot back; she pulled it a touch too much. As well as she hits the ball, she could have put that one under Labbe's hand. Van de Donk is getting forward and her midfield teammates putting in good work. Martens needs to be more aggressive and decisive--she missed a key passing opportunity late by dithering with the ball. Would like to see her get into the middle of the field more. Other than France, Canada has to have the best back four in the tournament--a tough group to beat for sure, partly because Lawrence and Buchanan have so much pace and recover so well, and we can see the Dutch testing them. And Chapman is very tough and hard-working as well. Was that yellow on Dekker justified? I don't think so--a foul, sure, but not a yellow.
I’m always terrible with the points and stuff. So, based on what we know now, which 3rd place are likely to go through. Let’s say that Chile and Cameroon both win.
If both win then it depends on GD who will go through(together with Nigeria). Just check the ranking of third placed teams here. The Argies only have 2 pts so just one win of whichever team will send them home: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2019_FIFA_Women's_World_Cup#Ranking_of_third-placed_teams
54' 1-0 Spitse fk from 8m wide left, to 6-top 1/4 right, Dekker jumps in front of Buchanan, glance-heads across mouth into right side netting low, with Labbé stranded in the center.
