I LOVE all the history being made in the World Cup. 1st group stage for us since 2002.

    1st win against Ghana.

1st Yank to score in 3 consecutive World Cups.

Youngest Yank to score in the World Cup since Donovan in 2002.

1st German-born Bundesliga player to score in the World Cup for the USMNT.

We should have brought Boyd. Forget LD10. He's not needed. I wish Adu was productive. We could use someone who could create shit out of his ass for himself and others.

WE DID IT. WE HAD HEART.

Now if we can beat Portugal and Germany beats Ghana. We're almost there.

They play this style a little prettier, however the Greeks don't and everyone loves them for their defensive grit! We get no love, lol!

except they set an all time world cup record for passing %. They had more possession than England, shot a lot more than we did, and generally bossed the game.

Yes, both teams sat in a generally non pressing defense without the ball.
Yeah, cuz thats what people are doing.

Of course we need him, but not if he plays like that.

First sub to score, which really doesn't speak well for our prior subs...

I am not sure what Afghan or stupid conclusions you see but I am happy for you.

Now, I suggest you might try to enjoy the win and the 3 points.

    Is that stupid too?

Or, surely we can both agree that it is all Klinsmann's fault.

And one of us would mean it, and one of us would be wondering why some supposed USMNT fans seem bummed that the US won.

There is not an app for that, but I do suggest - therapy.

Since between the terrible roster selections and the poor tactics and terrible training and diet, who knows how USMNT might do in next couple games.

you were watching a different game. trying to do too much? Standing and watching ball after ball roll by him. he wasn't trying to do anything. That was the problem.

I guess it proves that a lack of master-class strategies don't necessarily cause us to lose games. However, a header in the 87th minute might though. ;)

Fair enough! To be clear, I'm STOKED about the three points. But being a nervous nellie, not comfortable going into the Portugal game. At all.

Brooks is going to go to bed a happy camper tonight. :)

I think a combination of things went into the poor showing from our midfield. The early goal, the Josy injury and I think they just looked nervous. Numerous poor touches and giveaways. Extremely poor decision making always it seemed going for the direct ball over the top instead of building from the back when they had the opportunity. I think a lot of it was nerves and I think we will look much more skillful versus Portugal wether we win or not.

3 injury subs. Bedoya was hurt too. He had been grabbing his leg for 15 minutes.

No doubt Italy executed it better then we did, but its clear our goal after scoring early was to sit back and absorb pressure and try to counter.

Unfortunately several things worked against us

    1. Jozy injury- we lost our release valve

    2. Dempsey injury- if not for already having used a sub I think Dempsey comes out after that

    3. Bradly was dog shit

sarcasm? xenophobe? or just a tool?

To me….that was like Big Sam-esque. Defend, defend, defend, hoof it forward. Rinse and repeat.

We have our work cut out for us against Portugal. Hopefully they are in disarray in camp after a thorough beating, but the injuries, wasted roster spot on Green, and the poor play by Bradley today should be of concern.

MB's performance had nothing to do with Ghana...ZERO. If you think so you don't understand soccer.
He took himself out of the game. He was WIDE open 5 or 6 times and let balls roll a yard past him without even making an attempt to get to it.
Ghana did not stop MB. MB stopped MB.

I think my heart has finally settled down a bit..so anyone have recordings of their reactions through the course of the game?? I wish I had the room to set one up here but I was way up damn near smashing into the ceiling after the goal..... The Dempsey goal was just a surge of electricity right off the bat.

Was MB worried about potential conditioning issues and paced himself too conservatively??

yes this brings up a good point. JK's gamble that we would have 0 injuries and throwing away a roster spot on Green is looking even dumber now. No-one can defend Green on the roster now.
