Well it was one of those where he was sprinting and pulled up lame, immediately went to ground, and had to be stretchered off. So to sum it up, it looked really bad to me as an average fan with no athletic training or medical background

Torri hunter of the detroit tigers just pulled a hamstring running to first. Was he over trained?

A full sprint where he was almost in on goal for that matter.

I thought he was injured for a hot second.

Absolutely happy for him. What a time to score your first goal. :)

Two were forced by injury, the other was a like-for-like replacement in the 77th minute to add fresh legs. Tactical genius.

On a more snarky note, that was Bob Bradleyesque.

When we are under siege for 80 minutes because we don't have players that can hold possession or a sub for midfield? Yeah. That counts.

well, he helped us control the midfiedl some after clark had crapped the bed. But without him helping out the 2 games before that we're not even there. But whatever. JK can shit in a box, tell you it's chocolate, and it's chocolate.

The way this game went, that was a good instinct guess.

Can you take your bitching to the fire Klinsman thread? Some of us are trying to enjoy this win.

Does it count if I get his substitute right?

We had 2 injuries... JK didn't get to make tactical subs, so what you are saying is speculation. The fact is that the roster he selected won the game.

While I still think he should have brought Donovan (and have a feeling he'll have no use for Green), I have to say he did things well here. Sitting back, being compact, and weathering the storm was the right thing to do.

I'm sure there was a contingency plan for in case they scored. It's typical for a team that goes in front, when facing a team of equal power, to sit back and absorb pressure. It's not so much a mark of weakness, as confidence that there is a plan in place to strike back and recover the advantage.

Lucky for us, Ghana didn't score in the last five minutes, though. So yes, there was some luck. Still, I think JK did quite well. Not that I expect him to all of a sudden become a master tactician. But I have hopes he can get a tie or more in the next. Again, with some luck.

Yeah taking Brooks to the Cup was a huge mistake.

    Total disaster.

I'm sure Goodson would have scored just like Brooks, and also he would have blocked Gyan's header on the Ghanaian corner afterward.

Taking Zusi instead of Landon was another complete disaster.

That corner in the 86th minute - no doubt Landon would have placed it perfectly too. Hey you never know.

And what does Klinsmann think, taking a skinny old winger like Beasley to play left back.

Actually, it seemed Ghana attacked from the other side mainly....for some odd reason they seemed to avoid that out of position player that the idiot Klinsmann thinks can play left back at World Cup level.

That Klinsmann just got lucky again, I guess.

(In case it is not clear, yes I am being sarcastic - it is disappointing though that so many folks can't even enjoy the win and instead insist on staying in their fantasy anti-Deutschland - welt.) ;)

Not the best performance, but 2-1 is 2-1. This game was always going to be an affair like that going one way or another.

Exactly, we didn't look all that much different from how Italy played against England

we had the players to hold possession. They just ********ed up and made bad passes etc. I didn't see anything from Ghana that made us make bad passes most of the time. It was just our players making bad plays they normally don't make while in possession.

You say weathering the storm, I say emergency defending and bad finishing on the part of Ghana. I just can't give credit to that.

I do give credit for an IMMENSE performance from Jones, Cameron and Besler. They were tremendous. Full credit to them, what a wonderful game for them.

All criticism aside, Portugal is a new day!
