The player closest to the camera doesn’t touch him and then their bodies mostly block what the player in the back is doing. But does look like he stuck his heel out

It looks like SUI #6 takes a whack, Diaz continues a few steps, then SUI #4 does a back kick with his studs which is why Diaz goes down. Would need another angle from the opposite side to tell for sure.

And he *tried* to, which is the important part for me.

What an incredible performance by Barton. If this is his last game it will be very disappointing but I’m sure it’s it for him

He’s done decently well in a very low intensity game. Still don’t understand the no penalty decision in the first half of extra time (I didn’t see the apparently similar one that he didn’t give for Switzerland)

Akanji has just been invited to the NY Giants summer camp to be their next field goal kicker.

I think he would have done a much better job in the France-Paraguay game.

Can he do the Argentina game?

Colombia wins the second coin toss, and the captain doesn’t know what their preference is, has to consult the goalkeeper. It’s like a local youth game!

I'm sure it's been asked here before, but why do referees speak to the keepers in front of the goal giving instructions, which sort of "ices" the guy who is shooting the first shot? Why is it not done earlier?

if it’s the play I’m thinking bout, I imagine the R or AR concluded that the attacker got close enough to the GK to be considered challenging for the ball, which would be enough to count as interfering with an opponent and result in OS offense.

Saw the highlights of the game and I just love how there are two completely different bars for VAR intervention on fouls in the APP and to award penalties.

How many penalties have been awarded via VAR versus how many goals have been disallowed via VAR? Anyone have the statistics.

The penalty appeal in the 89th for Switzerland and penalty appeal for Colombia in the 92 of ET would be fouls in the APP if it led to a goal.

They are fouls. I don't know how you can say they are not.

We believe that a foul is a foul.
