Denmark look toothless without Bendtner, which is also why it could seem like they were "happy" with a 0-1 defeat, which they of course were not.... the 2nd best option Jon Dahl Tomasson is injured and not able to play, so ther was not much the NT coach could do differently.

Not the best display. Second half better. 2-0 is a win.:)

As someone who used to be a fan of Dutch football, I must say that this another boring match that didn't impress me about either side. The Danes were worse but I can't say the Dutch did much to make you think they deserve to go far, even if Elias' substitution did liven the last 10 minutes a bit. Indeed, I am hoping that Japan and Cameroon can somehow both get out of this group instead.

I hope this is the last time FIFA organizes a WC in a high altitude country.
Its totally ruining the pace of the game.

And quit ********ing around with the ball, just leave it alone already!! Changing the ball every 4 years isnt making things better, its making it worse. Filthy FIFA tinkerers

Defensively/tactically I think Denmark looked good and really managed to keep the Dutch from looking all too dangerous most of this match, but that owngoal ruined it for the danes... and it was the last "nail in the coffin" when Bendtner was not able to play the last 30 minutes, since Denmark then looked absolutely toothless in attack.... With Jon Dahl Tomasson, being injured and not able to play, ther was not much the danish NT coach could do differently the last 30 minutes of the 2nd half.

Not a good game but I'll take the 3 points. The Danes are an organised bunch I can't see many teams performing well against them. And it seemed the altitude affected both teams.

I'm just glad that instead of putting on a display we just secured a win. It's good to not have all eyes on you after the first game. An outsider is still what we are, and I like it.

Expected victory. Not a good game but I'll take it too.
I rather play bad now than when we reach the knockout phase.

I definitely can see us growing in the tournament this time around.
I think it was the nerves, warm weather, high altitude and Jubilani issues.

By the way, I don't like early matches, playing in the evening is so much better.

It's amazing how tired and out of shape the Dutch guys looked today. I hope it's just the altitude, but frankly they have not impressed me in their prep friendlies either. They defeated sides that were either in transition (Hungary) or experimenting with their lineups (Ghana and Mexico).

No. He is expected to play against Japan. Nothing is certain, though.

with today's technology, altitude shouldn't even be an issue. at least with respect to the wealthier delegations, just have the guys sleep in oxygen tents. or just arrive in south africa earlier. both australia and brazil have been in south africa since like may 25th or so.

i wouldn't start him. the 2-0 result is probably the best scenario for the dutch. if the cameroon-japan game is a tie, it's even better for the dutch.

..or just an overrated Netherlands side...

What surprised me was how early someone like Australia came to SA to adjust(even they are also southern hemisphere, and it could not stop the German onslaught). I guess if the Germans lost, they would have complained about the ball also
If germany can play as well as they did with the ball, everyone should learn to play like the Germans. NO ONE should make petty excuses like altitude and the ball. There are no excuses for games like this when it comes to such things. Teams have months to plan. Germany has tought the world just how to play with a so called inferior ball in a different altitude as their own. Teams can learn from the professionalism of the Germans....even though they are not close to being my favourite team....

Stereotypical German arrogance. "They are not my favorite team" bullshit. If you're going to be biased, at least admit it. Saying everyone should play like the Germans?

    What are you smoking?

And Brazil/Spain hasn't even played yet. I'm sorry I'm not too impressed by the Mighty Australians like you are. The US could have beaten them by 5-6 goals recently. Maybe everyone should play like the US? (I mean, Australia is SOOO good!!)

I'm not gonna make excuses for Holland. They didn't do well today, but no one expects this Dutch side to do anything anyways. They are performing to their quality as of current, which outside of 3 players, is not much.

But if you want to talk about "overrated," you might want to go to the England match threads and talk about them.

One of the dumbest threads I read in a long time:

    https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1358653

Sure, pace and speed are overrated.
Thats why Elia and Robben are crucial to our success

Please! He is obviously a German fan, PRETENDING not to be biased. It is clear as day.

How else can ANYONE say that ALL TEAMS should play like Germany? WTF?
But how else do you explain his stupid comment "everyone should be classy and beautiful" like Germans?

lol we've only seen half the groups play. and a lot of these teams had their toughest group game first. USA/england; france/uruguay; denmark/netherlands. things will be MUCH better in the 2nd set of games.

not just "typical" Germany arrogance, but even "stereotypical"...

Thats like calling ones own comment dumb and polarising before even speaking it out loud.

As for the rest of your points, you could absolutely be right about everything. But you ruined it with the first punch-line
