Ghana deserved the win. They showed patience and picked their spots to attack. This is not the same powerful Ghana team of 2006 but it's still a pretty good team and will advance from the group. They definitely miss Essian and Manturi.

Agreed. The haters will say anything to degrade Maradona. Must really hurt them that he is still the biggest draw in world futbol.

And one GM in about 100, once in his playing career, gets to chump his unlucky opponent. Sacking 1-2 pieces for a win by force, in a combo 15+ moves deep, ending with 4 minutes total off his own clock (of 90), and the other guy using 89:48, and blundering in time scramble. And then the winner promptly pulls out his laptop PC, unsuspends it to Rybka, clicks unerringly on tab 7 of about 20 on his taskbar, and lo and behold, it's the final position on the board. And he says, "Yah, I was studying this line for about 200 hours over the past 4 months, that's one of the crazy variations in this branch -- you missed two draws".

The loser does not merely feel a little shorter -- studies have confirmed that the human spine literally compresses as a kind of traumatic shock. Honest ;)

I still don't know why Appiah came on in this game?

That sub was very suspect; it appears the coach as playing for a draw.

I truely believe the Serbian coach was trying to sabotage Ghana's game. Did you see how angry he was at the end of the match. I think he wanted a draw so he could please Ghana and Serbia at the same time. Serbia goes down to 10 men, which is when he should have brought on Quincy to run at Serbia's defence and go for the kill, yet he takes off Kojo Asamoah who was Ghana's most dangerous player and brings on the slow and aging Appiah. Dude was trying to screw Ghana believe me, Good thing it didn't happen. :D

Germans were good no doubt, but played against an aging Australia down to 10 men without their best player. Very flattering. They still dominated previous to the red, but Australias backline looked very poor and slow. Lets see how Germany does in their next 2 games before we start getting carried away.

What do you mean by Serbia made mistakes.... THEY WERE OUTPLAYED by a better team so give credit where credit is due. Before the game everyone counted Ghana out and now that we've proven to all that we are better than the Serbian team, it's a different story. EXCUSES-EXCUSES-EXCUSES

Actually, our current team is better than what we presented in Germany 06. Sulley Muntari for instance can walk straight to most (if not all) African teams but today, he started from the bench. We don't have big names like the Serbians but as a team, we are better than them. We also have lots of talented and young players on our team. Serbia only have big names.

They are not terrible. They are good but Ghana is better. You guys need to start to give credit where it's due. Before the game, no one gave Ghana a chance and all of a certain, Serbia played terribly. Excuses,excuses....
Ghana is better as a team than Serbia and we proved it today.

Thanks. It's so annoying when you hear these so-called soccer experts (especially in the US) talking down on Ghana. Yes Ghana doesn't have big names on our team but trust me, we have lots and lots of talents that NO other African country has. We crank talents everyday yet, people don't realize that. Instead of giving us the credit we deserve, they are saying Ghana beat 10 MEN Serbia...

You guys outplayed us today there is no doubts about that.

Anyone who talks differently is lying. However, we, Serbia had a 15 minute spell in the second half where if we take our chances the game is largely undecided.

The game was decided on a mistake, and at this level such mistakes are punished.

Ghana played well and deserved the win. But to say Serbia played up to their standards is beyond logic. We almost couldn't string a pass together, and we just kept supplying Zigic with aerial balls. Ghana frustrated but I think a 0-0 draw was on the cards. And that is what doesn't make any sense.. Serbia went from being an organized side with good wing play through the qualifiers, and were just uncharacteristic of the side we have come to expect under Antic. There seemed to be a lack of energy, and motivation at such a large level. Krasic, a great player, wouldn't even try to move to the ball when receiving a pass. It seems like they either expected to win, or were so nervous they beat themselves. I understand that Ghana played their game, and beat us.. but worries me is the manner of our loss. It was very uncharacteristic of our previous games. Having said all of that... the next game vs Germany is a must win for us. Mission impossible...

Good luck in the rest of the tournament.

Ghana just need to beat a poor Australia and they will qualify.

England does not blow. Teams that start strongly rarely do it all the way to the end.

Look at Holland at Euro 2008 and Argentina at 2006. World beaters until the knockout round.

How do you work that out? The USA had two chances in the entire game, and that's not counting the goal they scored.

You obviously didn't watch Englands qualifying campaign if you think Gerrard and Lampard don't work together.

    that was my thought too.

I have trusted and supported Milo as I believe he is a GREAT coach.

Today, I had my doubts about him bringing on Stephen Appiah and taking off the player causing the Serbs the biggest probs (Kwadman). Appiah? Like wtf, is he trying to promote Appiah to get a footballing contract. No offense but Appiah is washed up, and his days with the NT are long over.

Quincy was the sub we needed, ON for Prince Tagoe who was having a torrid time on the right wing.

Anyway, if he tried to sabotage us, it FAILED.

football experts and US in the same sentence...lol

We have no star in the squad now. And it's better that way. We play as a unit.

And we are 1-0 specialists :). Ask Burkina Faso, Angola, Nigeria, Serbia

He wanted a draw but didn't know how to go about it. As a Serbian, he knew very well that his native country had no chance of beating us.

ESPN and Fox have lots of soccer experts from Europe and none of them gave us a chance. They made it seem like Serbia was just gona have a field day. I respect the Serbian team because they have great players who play for big European clubs but what they don't realize is that, football is not about big names. It's about team work. Sulley Muntari for instance plays for Inter but Ayew, who plays in Ligue 2 (France) started ahead of him (Muntari).
Like I said before, when it comes to football talents, no country in Africa come close to Ghana. Unfortunately, many of our talents don't play in big clubs.

    ohh please dont even start.

today was a very disappointing day for any serbian soccer fan. we did not play up to our capabilities, and certainly not to the expectations that I thought were going to happen. All I have to say is that from the day that the groups were drawn, I knew this would be a very tough group. With Germany dominating so hard against against the poor Aussies, and Ghana playing a steady game against us today, nothing will come easy in this group. Germany showed me today that they are ready to come out strong, and Serbia must be ready on Friday.

No they didn't. At least at Fox they said any team could make it out of this group. They did say Essien's injury was a big blow for the team and that is true. Ghana definitely did well and had the edge in the game, but both teams had about equal chances to score. And if it wasn't for that stupid hand ball, the game probably would have been a tie.

The hand-ball was terrible ... that's what I was referring to.
