Our local paper also predicted Müller to start yesterday.
    Let's hope it's true.

I'm also slowly getting over my irrational Müller-hate and a
good game by him would certainly help.

Mueller is no Kroos but he's >> Trochowski and already has an understanding with Oezil.

PS. According to the first post of this thread , Kicker thinks Troche...

    Re: Match 9 | Germany vs. Australia | June 13th | Match Thread [R]

Herald sun newspaper in Melbourne says Valeri will start in central midfield with Bresciano being dropped to the bench and Kewell will only start as a sub and wont come on unless Australia is chasing the game.

    Schwarzer
Wilkshire, Neill, Moore (this guy is useless ), Chipperfield
    Emerton, Valeri, Grella, Culina
    Cahill
    Kennedy

Grella really doesn't deserve to be in the starting lineup either. He has been terrible in the 3 friendlies in the last 3 weeks. Watch for him to get red carded.

    Anyway go AUSTRALIA

I'm not exactly Muller's fanboy and not super excited he's a starter this tournament, however he is far, far better than Trochowski already at 20 years of age. He should definitely start over him imo.

Please don't call them "Die Mannschaft". Nobody in Germany does this. I don't know where and when this started.

LOL, very true!:p:D I guess its due to the phonetic characteristics. It may sound empowering and scary for foreigners. It is quite ridicoulous though.

Hm looks like youth vs. age. The graphic has an error - Chipperfield is 34 not 24.

Soo that makes only 3 Australians under 30 and none under 27.

Germany has only 2 over 30 and only 3 over 25.

I also like seeing Muller starting on the right instead of Trochowski. Muller is the better link-up player and I think will help get the best out of Ozil. Most likely we weren't going to get anything spectacular out of the right side so it's better to have a player that can benifit the others around him.

Don't like seeing Badstuber starting at LB, but there isn't really a visibly better option other than switching Lahm.

What is the correct name, Die Nationalmannschaft is what I call them, does "National" make that huge of a difference?

"Die Mannschaft" stems from English media. I just refer to them as "Die Nationalelf" oder "die besten" ;)

I would hate it if they keep using BADstuber as left-back in the future too.
    He's so lazy going forward.

The German NT has no nickname in German. In interviews or such people call it "Die Mannschaft" but its used in the same manner as "the team" (which of course is the translation) not as a name.
Nationalelf is probably the nearest thing you get as a German nickname. (Elf = eleven the number not the fairies ;) )

If you ask somebody in Germany how the Mannschaft will do s/he will most probably puzzled asking you if you are speaking of the Nationalelf, maybe which Nationalmannschaft (which sport) or some local team.

Friederich is pretty fast in no way comparable to Mertesacker.

I've often wondered how Brazilians really use the term selecao. I think it means "selection" which obviously could just be a generic term for all of their NTs.
