Hmm this could be the first play-off round where Germany is considered the (slight) favorite. I don't know if this is good. But I am happy, that the opponent is Spain and not Paraguay, because everyone knows how dangerous Spain can be. They're world class and can score any time. They also have a very good defense.
I somehow have a bad feeling for Germany. :(

Now everyone is expecting Germany to win this, but these are exactly the moments, where the favorite team will fail. I saw this happen too often in football.

Spain 2010 screams Italy 2006 just all over the place.

Well now we have the pleasure of getting destroyed by Germany. Anyway, I'm just glad Germany is not a defensive bunker team, I'm sick of that.

Germany will miss Mueller against the Spanish. The question is: how much?

I think this will be a low score match. Both midfields will nullify each other and with solid defense and GK's on both sides not much will go thru.
And the first goal form sp's will decide the game.

    Germany:
    - no Müller
    - youth, especially when they are down 0:1
    + youth and fitness
    + confidence and momentum

    Spain:
    - sparse movement off the ball
    - David Villa seems to be their only real hope for a goal sofar, easy to shut-down
+ more expierience witout being too old and slow

Germany has had a real tough road to where they are - it might not seems that way as they have posted huge scores.BUt Argentina, England and even Ghana first need to be beaten. Now Its Spain and maybe if they reach the final Holland. Some how as much as i want them to take it - this is just too tough for any team to win so many big matches against great teams.

From what I've heard, it's going to be a titans duel and every team has chances to win this. I say germany will win 2-0.

Spain this year is lot worse from Spain in 2008, I dont know why maybe due to new manager and players being out of form..

Germany should win this, their fitness is a huge advantage over any team. I can see them running all over the Spaniards and eventually overpower them in the last 20-30 mins.

All depends on Torres playing or not ......

If Torres plays: Germany 4 x Spain 0

If Torres doesn't play: Germany 0 x Spain 0 in regular time. In the extra time anything can happen

I´m too scared of the totally invincible Spanish 2008 team to make a prediction. Spain looks weaker without Torres in top shape, and even Puyol was shaky on one or two occasions against Paraguay. But still...

This German side plays very much like Spain two years ago. Löw formed the team according to Spain´s blueprint. I think Germany may have the edge, but this can go either way, and it will not be a low scoring game. Expect the fastest match since Brazil vs. Netherlands in 1994.

I think this might be the best, most epic match of the world cup. Spain have yet to show their true form, I think because so far they have been playing extremely defensive bunker teams. Germany as well only played so well against more offensive teams.

I think there will be a lot of goals but I've kind of got a feeling that Spain is going to win this since we haven't really seen the Spanish in an open match yet.

This will be a goalfest on both sides. expect Ludicrous e.g. 6-3 type results here. Battle of the Offenses! Only factors that will slow it down will be Casillas and Neuer :p Respect to Germany if they manage to pull this one off. Beating England/Argentina and Spain consecutively almost should win you the cup. (If it weren't for those darned Dutchmen waiting in the finals :p )

Good luck Spain too, always have the feeling they are playing with a handbrake still on.

i'll give the edge to spain on this one, although it's going to be an awesome game. i'm hoping this could finally be the game that torres whips himself into shape. if he doesn't, del bosque shouldn't hestitate to put llorente in the game. the fact that germany will actually be attacking makes me think that spain will do quite well, as they've been playing defensive stacking teams, which leads to a lot of frustration for la furia roja. i predict 3-2 spain. also, casillas > neuer. he'll hopefully keep up his incredible performance from today.

    Torres shouldn't play

Put Cesc in. Not the time to play around with IF Torres snaps out of it.

I'd bet even Torres is in agreement about Torres somewhere in his mind.

    Anyway.

Go Spain. I wanted this to be a World Cup for a team to lift it for the first time, and will root for any team left that can fulfill that.

I agree that this is the Epic match of WC. Many people say that Villa is the only one scoring for Spain. I don't think that is a problem. He is their number one striker and he is doing his job very well. So what' s the problem? Spain is playing their game and so far, Swiss was the only team to frustrate them. Lucky for Spain that it happened in group stage.

Germany missing Muller is huge. After all, Muller was the reason Germany won today. That yellow card was a bad mistake by referee. Sad to see a great player missing a WC semi. FIFA should really change rules to review suspensions like that. Why penalize fans for a bad call?

Germany will have hands full facing Spain. This is not Argentina which was known for having bad defense and one facet game with super strikers. Spain is solid in every way. Will they take the game to Spain or sit back and emulate Paraguay? 2-1 Spain.

I do agree that Spain is playing a team game. But what do you mean for the first time? Didn't Italy win last time as a team? If that wasn't a team effort, then what is? Almost every Italian starter scored a goal in that tournament. That was one of the rarest team effort I saw in my life. Also, France in 98 was a great team as well. 74 Germany also.
