It's not a good sign in that it definitely falls into "Don't try this at home" because for the matches that most of us do that has to be a caution 1000% of the time. However it's pretty much in line with the rest of this world cup so it's not the worst sign.
Egad! I think you figured it out -- for this WC it has to meet two cautionable criteria. So PI + tactical is enough, or PI + reckless, or reckless + tactcial!!
One might think that the lack of cards has been working this WC, since there have been a lot of good games, but they broke poor Neymar's back. Not worth it.
I don't think that caution Martins got was even a foul to be honest and there is no way in hell that Cakir gives him a yellow if he cautioned him for the first foul he committed on Messi. When FIFA makes some new videos on the LOTG what clips from this World Cup are they gonna use for Law 12 Fouls and Misconduct? Busacca has completely turned international refereeing on it's head with this World Cup. It's doing a disservice to some of the early MLS refereeing we've seen.
Thought when cakir called back the Arg advantage for the first Indi foul that it was going to be yellow. Then next one has to be PI yellow for a ticky tack barely there foul. Like others have said: Welcome to the 2014 FIFA World Cup
I think you are right! Demichelis just got booked and I thought it was tactical, but he didn't get booked til he started dissenting. That's my impression since Cakir gave him the running mouth hand gesture, anyway.
I'd like to see the yellow card amnesty moved to the end of the round of 16. The way it is now basically gives everyone a free yellow to use in the semis. If you get a yellow in the QF and one in the SF, then too bad, you miss the final.
Here's a radical suggestion: how about, if you get two yellows in one game, you get a suspension. And that's it. I honestly think scrapping the yellow card accumulation rules would take a lot of pressure off of referees to avoid giving yellows, and allow them to manage the game as they are accustomed to doing. I believe this would make the games safer, or at least as safe as they are now.
