The English media is trolling and championing against the Dutch since the start (Guardian, BBC).

What is Cakir's reputation. Seeing DeJong in the lineup makes this a pretty critical question whether he reins in the challenges or not

Cakir: Nice to see you again Mr. Van Persie. Remember me? I'm the "unknown ref" who sent off Nani.

Time to take a break from calculus and enjoy the match. Good luck Cakir!

Anyone else notice that the ARs arn't using beeper flags? Watch the coin toss, they are just using the B+D Flags from what I could tell.

I mean, don't really see the need for beepers when you have a microphone. Just say "beep" when you put up your flag ;)

Can't believe De Jong would risk a caution for FRD when he has to mark Messi for another 75+ minutes.

Is it really a risk if you know it's not coming?

AR2 seems very slow, hopefully that will not be an issue with this match.

Just about avoided Mascherano's head because Mascherano stopped. Anyway, right decision to just give a foul.

With all due respect, have you been watching this world cup? :p

I get the feeling a player would need to sit on the ball at a free kick to get a caution early in this game.

Interesting in 26'. Corner initially given (by AR I think) then we get a GK.

But when a tactical/reckless offense is ignored, the foul is still given. In this case, there is no way he could have not had the FK retaken. If you have the FK retaken, he HAS to caution for FRD.

First is a case of not punishing a player to keep a yellow in your pocket. This would have been punishing Argentina to keep a yellow in your pocket.

Four fouls, thirty minutes. Their game is fair play. So far. (All Dutch, no?)
