Yeah. That would have been a rough goal to take off the board, but it would have been called offside.
hazard clipped on head at the end of that (inadvertently) oddly, he doesn't roll around like he's been shot
What do you think is happening when the referee is standing at midfield, with his hand to his ear, stopping play while the FOX camera cuts to the VAR crew?
The Kompany tackle where there was a question whether the ball was out of play when the foul occurred?
There was something like 90+ seconds of play direct after that though so they didn't need to hold up play to do the check. And they won't cut to the VAR room while play is still live. It works exactly as the procedure has been said it would work.
I didn't see the "ball on the line/foul" replay so I can't comment on it, but the sum total of close calls in the second half that did not go Brazil's way is going to fuel a lot of commentary.
Did Neymar cost his team their place in the WC? All the diving, rolling and histrionics eventually backfires. Would any of those incidents have led to a PK if it was not Neymar involved? Referees are instructed that you must be 100% certain to give a PK. Some doubt can reduce the certainty. But there were several other good chances to score which were missed, so perhaps it didn't matter in the end. PH
Wrapped up with which is going to be much gnashing of teeth around the question of whether Neymar's chickens have come home to roost. Full disclosure, I think there is no question he reputationed himself right out of some calls.
