Hopefully, Pitana has watched some film of the England-Colombia game. With Cavani likely nowhere near 100% (if he even plays), I expect Uruguay to use many of the Colombian-style tactics to slow the French down.

He had two of Uruguay’s World Cup qualifying matches. He’s familiar with them.

Hopefully not, as Uruguay is closer to France in ability, unlike the Colombia situation.
But they do have their known villains. :(

Pregame annoucer said, “Uruguay is the size of Missouri “

Sadly, 85% of those watching still have no idea how big Uruguay is. :)

    That'll be a yellow in FUTURO (10').

Pitana has been my favorite referee thus far in the tournament. I hope he’s in contention for the final.

Uruguay intent on stopping play as long as its only a foul

Was that the Uruguay player who fell on the French player?

Uruguay knows cards won’t come early and is taking advantage. I actually think the step on Giroud was deliberate VC. The type of VC that’s never going to be called at this tournament, of course. And the type of VC that VAR was designed to catch but FIFA doesn’t want to catch.

Any more force and a Giroud is out for the match. But perish the thought of actually punishing such intentional behavior.

To be clear, fault lies with FIFA. Not Pitana.

Yeah, with the amazingly delayed reaction to being rolled into.

While I think the fall was deliberate, giving a caution there would be a disaster for the match as a whole. The rolling around was complete nonsense to begin with and he does almost roll the ankle because of it. Best just to move on from the nonsense on both sides there.

My bad. I thought he was the tackler also. The card should be for the tackle.

AR kicking the ball to the GK. That is now the third time I've seen this at the WC.

Certainly that is a no-no locally.

Is it just me, or are we seeing a lot of extra balls on the field this WC?

Wasnt asking for one. Its like the nonsense when your kids decide to slam one another. Tell them both to stop.

He crashed through him WELL AFTER the ball was played.
