Excellent composure for Holland to win. Brazil were a threat completely even with 10 men, but this was a classic match.

Congratulations to the Netherlands. Horrible second half to Brazil and the loss of composure cost us the game.

Another superior team going home because they can't take the pressure. Pathetic really ...

Anyway, gz to NL, like I said. If Kaka and mid goes invisible the game will be problematic. This happened. What I don't understand is how players on such level can't handle the pressure.

    Wow, great game.

Brazil really fell apart in the second half. The own goal really destroyed their composure.

I wanted Brazil to win but they don't deserve it. You see teams with less talent like the US, Chile, Mexico, fight until the final minute, even if they are far behind and it looks hopeless.

These guys never seemed to get the sense of urgency. They have talent but no soul, Dunga took it away from them.

Congratulations to the Dutch, they did what they had to do.

Grats Netherlands. But it looked almost like in the last 10-15 minutes you didn't want to win! Hah. This is getting kind of creepy that my dream prediction of Germany/netherlands final has now become a whole heck of a lot more likely now.

I'll love to watch all the gerbage ESPN analysts eat crow. Lalas was the only one who went Oranje. They are gonna eat more crow tomorrow.

Some of the ESPN commentators have been saying all along that NL was being underrated, sounds like they were right.

If instead of rolling on the ground and protesting every call for three minutes they had used that time to actually play, Brazil would have obtained more from this match. As is, Robben's intelligence won this one.

Bad news for ESPN's ratings prospects. Won't be a horrible tragedy, but it doesn't help.

Holland win, but they hardly impress. One lucky goal and one with Brasil defence mixup. Robben terrible - only thing he can do is dive and get freekicks. Dirk Kuyt player of match.

Holland without de Jong and van der Wiel in semifinal.

Brazil did marginally well with being down 10 men.

Congratulations to our Dutch neighbours. Very spirited second half after a first half which saw Brazil as the dominators. At the halftime break I didn´t expect the Netherlands to get back into the match again. But they did with great effort and confidence.
But the victory was hardly paid for as de Jong misses next match as well as de Wil (correct spelling? Too lazy to look it up.). Hopefully Mathjisen will be back in the defense for the semis.

By the way: Among the best men on the field was the Japanese ref. Respect for this refereeing in such a heated atmosphere.

Easy to say it after the event, but Brazil lacked imagination going forward. In the second half they never looked like hurting the Dutch.

Felipe Melo's sending off was an act of absolute idiocy and it really killed the chances of Brazil.

Sad to say, because I always like to see Brazil do well.

I think it was their weakest game thus far. But if this was their low point ...

Football wins! Thank you Netherlands! Brazilians should be thankful as well as they can now return to their roots for the World Cup they will host.

World Cup is up for grabs now...

Coaches don't take away soul. Huge contracts and blind adulation do that to a player. They eventually become businessmen instead of players. If you want to see the confirmation look at the players on some of the teams that outperformed this Cup. A lot of them have no professional contract. It is the same in all sports, not just soccer.

If they wanted the score to remain respectable, they suceeded. If they wanted to win, they failed, because they never took the risks and went all out for the win. No sense of urgency, they died faithful to Dunga's lackadaisical conservative style.
