Line-ups are up on FIFA.com Argentina: Romero; Burdisso, Otamendi, Demichelis, Heinze; Mascherano, Di Maria, Maxi Rodriguez; Tevez, Messi, Higuain Mexico: Perez; Rodriguez, Salcido, Marquez, Osorio, Torrado, Hernandez, Suarez, Dos Santos, Guardado, Bautista
Anthems! Not a single Argentinian player or coach moved his lips, so I was unable to match the haunting melody to the lyrics I just Googled. Most Mexican players did sing. Also coach Javier Aguirre. And I still couldn't follow the lyrics.
Torrado as DM is a good decision IMO. The defensive back four in Argentina is also a wise move by Diego.
01' 0-0 Argentina control and ping it calmly left-to-right, and ooze their way past midfield. Maradona and Aguirre both cross themselves.
03' 0-0 Both midfields run until they try to do too much at the other's box top. Both defenses are solid. Intriguing: Mexico has already blocked about 3 balls off a defender's heads-up pass. That counts as a pass not completed!
Wow, the vuvuzelas are loud as hell right now. Sucks, because both of these teams have great singing fans.
05' 0-0 Mexico raid down Argentina's box left to 9m, float a cross somewhat too high to 7m right post, headed clear. #21 Adolfo Bautista challenges behind box top right, drapes himself over #7 Ángel Di María like a cape, foul.
Dos Santos was moving so fast his hair scrungy thing fell out. THAT is fast!! Loving the feel of the game already.
Wow, Mexico is really taking it to the Argentines. Very very lucky that they're not down 2-0 right now.
08' 0-0 Another thing of note: Early on, both teams are confident enough to defend "straight up". When either midfield line surges forward with possession, the other team's forwards stay high around midfield, and just walk around, trusting their defense to hold firm and find them on the outlet.
