Like a real game of EA's FIFA 21, 22
Haaland has height, air balls as his advantages. He is very good in Manchester City.
Haaland can also play a bit of defense. I don't think Mbappe knows the meaning of the word.
Whaaaaat! U didnt see the semifinal in 2018... he practically held the ball for a minute after the whistle was blown at the end and then cleared it making it impossible for a counter attack lol
None of that makes Haaland the better player. Mbappe is pretty strong, faster, much better technically and a prolific goalscorer. Haaland might be the better finisher, but Mbappe is a better player overall.
Mbappe has improved a lot in terms of defensive ability. I wouldn’t say Haaland is better at that.
Haaland lacks the playmaking ability and technical talent to be truly great. He’s a traditional number 9 who poaches goals. I’m more impressed with players like Benzema and Kane, but Haaland will definitely be rated higher in the future because he’s very prolific in terms of goalscoring.
I don't think Mbappe played any defense at all today. He just planted himself a few meters across the halfway line every play.
I think you need to watch more games then. He’s much better defensively than he was 4 years ago.
Haaland is actually very fast. He was the third fastest player in the Bundesliga last year, at 36.4 km/ph, the same speed that Mbappe was clocked at in the Poland match.
He hasn't been in this tournament. I haven't seen him track back in any of the matches.
Here we go again
Messi vs Ronaldo debate has officially been transferred to Mbappe Haaland
Well, @JoCryuff98 had to get all provocative and say that Mbappe is "far superior'"to Haaland, which is fanboy talk.
I’m no fanboy of Mbappe. It’s just silly to think Haaland is the better player.
He actually does. Besides, it seems you never watched a single PSG game after 2017-18 season. Mbappe clearly has improved his defensive press. If you think he’s defensively the same player as he was 4 years ago, then I have doubts whether you watched him play after his first season with PSG. I do agree he was defensively a liability four years ago, but not anymore. If you’ve watched Mbappe play under Galtier, he tracks back much more than he did in the last season.
Lets imagine Norway had qualified but Poland hadn't, In that case, I suppose some would claim Lewandowski is better than Mbappe.
You keep comparing him to himself. Maybe he tracks back more than he used to, but he doesn't seem to do it much. Certainly not in this World Cup.
Who said Haaland was better? The only provocative statement was yours, when you said Mbappe was "far superior".
I do not think what I’ve said was provocative because Haaland is just a goal poacher who lacks the versatility to match Mbappe. I also wouldn’t say I’m a fanboy considering I’ve been critical of Mbappe’s behaviour for a long time. From my unbiased view, Haaland just doesn’t convince me as a player who will be in the GOAT tier discussion. Now, I’m not trying to say Mbappe will be GOAT tier, but if he keeps enhancing his ability then arguments could be made in the future.
"Haaland is just a goal poacher"
That's a pretty weird take, given that Haaland has 180 goals in 5 years, including 18 in the first couple of months of the Premier League this year, well ahead of everyone else in arguably the best league in the world.
See this is what I’m talking about. Goalscoring doesn’t equate to being a better player overall. If Mbappe played in Guardiola’s team, he would do much more than just poaching goals. Haaland doesn’t do much besides being a goalscorer. In comparison, someone like Karim Benzema creates chances out of nowhere and is much better at dribbling and ball retention. A number 9 with such versatility would be lot more beneficial in modern football teams. Technically like I’ve stated, Haaland isn’t all that impressive enough to be in the upper echelon. It might be a matter of personal opinion, but I’m not convinced of footballers who are just pure goalscorers.
What is your definition of a goal poacher?. To me, a goal poacher is just someone who hangs around the box waiting for rebounds. But you can't score 180 goals in five years just doing that. And Haaland is so much more than that. I don't know where you get the notion he's not a complete player. He's not exactly the same type of player as Mbappe, but he's still terrific, and will be in the conversation for ballon d'or in 2023.
I disagree. Haaland isn’t a complete player. All he does is score goals without involving himself in playmaking and technical aspects of the game. He’s a traditional English style striker that just score goals. He’s no Thierry Henry, Ronaldo Nazario, Marco van Basten, Romario, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Luis Suárez, Karim Benzema etc type of number 9. Good load of his goals tend to be tap-in. Haaland is the archetypal pure striker and I just don’t see how scoring more goals than Mbappe makes him better. Such a boring player will never truly be great. This is precisely why someone like Gerd Müller was never rated higher than Johan Cruijff back in the 70s. Müller poached goals, whereas Cruijff did everything including being a prolific goalscorer.
Well, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Yours seems kind of strange to me.
BTW, Haaland now valued at 170 million euros on Transfermarkt. Mbappe at 160 million.
