He's done well in this tough game except for that not-given yellow. I'd like to see some of the flopping cautioned as it's making this game hard to watch.

A quick accounting of incidents. Sorry for any holes in whom did what. (Also trying to eat chicken wings... mmm.)

    Chile (Red) VS Brazil (Yellow)
    Ref: Webb (ENG)

    FIRST HALF
    3 - FOUL Y5 tripped R20 (R stayed down a while) Ref didn’t over react.
4 – FOUL R20 tripped Y10 (Y10 came up slightly injured) Ref showed good composure again.
7 – Y10 told to go off the pitch for treatment by REF, back on quickly after.
    10 – FOUL Y7 pushed R8
11 – Red wanted a penalty, not given. Ref looked right.
12 – FOUL Yellow trip (Couldn’t tell who)
13 – Brazil wanted a penalty, not given
14 – FOUL R5 pushed Y17, just outside penalty area. Possibly tactical, no caution given.
    15 – FOUL Y10 pushed R??
NOTE: This game has been shot out of a cannon.
17 – FOUL R2 handled the ball to break up the attack. Called by AR2.
Caution to R2 for unsporting behavior (tactical handling)
18 – GOAL BRAZIL (1-0) Y5 or own goal? flick in from header following corner.
    20 – FOUL R8 pushed Y??
    21 – FOUL Y17 (?) charged R??
    22 – FOUL Y6 pushed R21
23 – FOUL Y10 (2nd), delayed a bit, and confusion on the field after the foul. Ref working hard to manage.
27 – FOUL R5 kicked Y10 right between the benches.
29 – FOUL R8 tripped Y10 (by Brazil bench), contact created by Y10, a foul but no more. Good call.
    31 – FOUL Y5 tripped R??
31 – FOUL Y5 pushed R?? Same player fouled twice in same minute, and it’s his 3rd foul.
A strong case for a PI caution. Ref only gave a warning.
32 – GOAL CHILE (1-1) R7 simple kick to the far post… GK off angle a bit.
35 – FOUL R7 (not sure what the call was)
    38 – FOUL Y4 tripped R?? Ref over with a heavy warning.
    39 – FOUL R5 (?) tripped Y9
40 – FOUL R5 tripped Y? R5 Cautioned for PI. Clear mechanic. (But then, why not to Y5?)
42 – Offside waved off. Signaled by AR1, but ball to GK.
    45 – Minimum of 2 minutes added

#5 of Chile definitely kept David Luiz onside. And like others said, it was probably an own goal anyway.

It would have been really interesting if Luiz had been in an offside position, though. Not sure the crew would have been able to pick out the vital touch and, even if they could, would you then argue Luiz was "challenging" for the ball?

But that's all hypothetical. Definitely onside by all standards and definitely a good goal.

Apparently someone from the Brazilian staff punched a Chilean player in the tunnel. A fight ensued. Anyone saw this?

I agree with this. In a knock-out game with the pre-match aggravation we have seen and the contrast between Chile's hard pressing game and Neymar's simulation you cannot be lenient or the players in question will take advantage. He has done it. Now he will need to be careful re bookings because suddenly changing from being lenient mid-game is always problematic.

Yeah, I can't watch a match with those two. Had to switch to Univision. Much better for my blood pressure.

Bet Webb would have liked an AAR there.

Still got it right, but it would have been easier.

For a moment there thought it would stand like the Lannoy double handball in 2010...

Not entirely sure about that call tbh. I did think there was a foul in the build-up. Credit to Webb for using his assistant.

Scolari is out of control and has been all tournament. What does he have to do to get thrown out?

How has Fernandinho not been yellow carded yet? Or Luiz for that matter. Both must have had like 4-5 fouls each by now.

The ball appeared to be trapped by him in the angle between his shoulder and arm, physics (if not the LOTG) dictate that it touched his arm intentionally.

Vidal had a dive there in the penalty area. If he appealed for a Pen was gonna get a booking.

I have been wondering this the entire tournament.

The handling decision was correct, though controversial. Is the caution absolutely required here, it's worth a discussion? Probably a good decision to give it, but I see a difference between this handling and a person who tries to pull a Maradona.

If Chile keep taking this game to Brazil like this, it will be a hard atmosphere for Webb. (There is my John Maddenism for today).

As a player I always hate decisions like that (rightly or wrongly). There's always a small chance of a small proportion of the ball brushing your shoulder or the top of your arm in those situations. It is neither intentionally nor does it make a difference re controlling the ball. In terms of this decision Webb did not see it but how much did his AR really see from his position?

Has anyone mentioned Webb's socks yet? He's having to pull them up literally every few seconds, even when the ball is in play.

Football is a contact sport and there was contact. It was neither a foul nor a dive. Vidal did not even appeal. Good decision to let play continue.

looked like he sort of dove/jumped around the guy to avoid contact and then bounced right back up

Surprisingly good game so far. All the big calls correct, even if he set double standards for persistent fouling.
