Special Mod note: Please no commenting on South Korea's player names (such as Kim). It was stated in the last match-day thread that the back line of SK was all Kim, and jokes were made about family from multiple posters. Just to point out that the same joke would not have been made about a European team if, say England lined up with all "Smith" at the back. While I don't think it was intended to be racist, by the holder of the name and for those from the country, it very well could be considered racist.

Please note, I am talking about the specific comment, not any particular poster. Please keep that in mind when posting.

Carry on and enjoy the match (and I hope Son is fit enough to play...or as a Tottenham fan, I hope not fit ;)).

if korea plays how they did today and Portugal plays how they did today, Korea is going to embarrass portugal.

Highlights of the 2002 WC encounter, which I remember vividly.

It's funny to see Paolo Bento (#17) on the pitch. It's too bad he will be watching from the stands on Friday.

Many complained at the time about Joao Pinto's straight red for his hideous tackle on Park Ji-sung (@4:40). Looking at it now, he could have crippled PJS.

Unfortunately I think Korea has good chances of winning this one because I suspect he will follow the France example of resting the majority of the players. I never agreed with these full rotations in tournaments and we should keep in mind we still can lose the first place in the group.

I don't think we will lose, the players coming in will be very hungry to prove themselves & imo should be starting anyway

Mendes and Danilo probably out for the tournament, do you know if Otávio will be ok? We cannot lose the first place, would be criminal finish second after the hardwork done to reach that position.

Congratulations to S. Korea. That pass by Son at that time and moment was just something. Well deserved. The AFC will have 3 teams in the R16; sadly for me, Iran isn't one of them.

    This aged well! :)

People overvalue the gulf in class. Tunisia and South Korea both won their games against top opposition that was playing for nothing.

I thought Portuguese subs would be more motivated. I suspect Portugal trolling Uruguay After thé loss in 2018.

It is simple: Korea were fighting for everything (just like Tunisia) and just needed a goal. Portugal were just playing a glorified friendly.

    Nothing more than that.

Okay, Brasil has different mindset than France/Portugal. Plus Cameroon's defence has been woeful, but...

But this is the same situation as the Korea and Tunisia game. Brazil 6 pts and almost quaranteed first. Cameroon progresses if they win and Switzerland does not win.

(Cameroon is the only African side that has ever beaten Brasil in a competitive match. Although that was peak Cameroon...)

I do not think it will happen, but I also did not think Japan, South Korea, Japan, Morocco, Suadi Arabia would beat Spain, Germany, Argentina, Belgium, Portugal in one tournament. So...
