I think England should be pleased that they fought harder and played a bit better, though they at times looked a bit unorganized at the back. Sometimes you convert chances, sometimes you don't. The important thing is getting through. Then the tournament really begins, and anything can happen.

Saw the Defoe goal. That was nice (and I'm happy for my Spurs player).

Nothing impressive from either team today.

Gerrard played well. Ashley Cole too

That being said....England have a lot of problems to fix if they plan on going anywhere.

#1 issue for me would be Glen Johnson. He deserved to be off a couple of times today and I don't think he's going to be as lucky if he pulls that stuff again. A defender he is not.

I'm glad England went though if only to avoid seeing Cappello's head explode. :D

Heartbreaker for the Slovenians. I felt they didn't play with as much urgency as they should have, they probably did not count on the USA scoring.

Nothing impressive, but a great game with many chances, although really few real threats. Novakovič really did nothing, and Birsa was shooting too directly, although he played great. Brečko, Handanovič and Jokič also played well for Slovenia.

Rooney is back, apparently, and even if he didn't score, he played well. Defoe scored a great goal. James was allright, he didn't get any really hard tests, but still, if it was Green in goal, Birsa might have scored :D.

Well I thought England played with a lot of fight and we were pretty good for 75 minutes. It was just a shame we didn't finish the game off with all our chances we had. Johnson was good when it didn't come to tackling, haha.

I like them so it is very sad to see them out, but they had no one to blame after giving up play in the second half vs US. Birsa was a major disappointment today, so many dangerous freekick positions and none of them posed any threat.

    Congratulations England and USA!

I literally had not thought about it until just now, but really crappy for the Slovenians. Up 2-0 to the US at half, to out of the world cup.

England were half-decent today. Created quite a few chances.

yeah the did, deserved to win by more

still feel bad for the Slovenians, particularly cause of how late the USA goal was, still they could have secured their place against the americans

To me A slight edge to Englands playing, and they won. Who next? Must play better now to go on.

Landon's goal was a glorious moment for me. Tragically, it eliminated Slovenija from the competition. I hope the Slovenian posters will stick around BS, as I am interested in Slovenian football.

England were back to way we played in qualifiers, nice one touch play should of been 3 or 4 up by the time slovenia had a bit of pressure in last 15.

While England should be relieved at their passage through to the next round, they would be foolish to let this go to their head.

The standard of opposition in this game and in the group has been disappointing to say the least. England will most definitely need to step it up if they harbour serious hopes of going really deep in the tournament.

I thought we started well and did create chances, but we were sloppy at times (Barry in particular gave the ball away too easily) and they had a few moments where they threatened us.

Also, with all due respect to Slovenia, this is the sort of game that should previously have been routine for us. It's only the dire performance in the last game that has made us see this as a huge triumph.

Plenty of positives to take from the game though.

I thought you guys were good too for what its worth. Unlucky not to finish some of your chances, a lot like us actually. Bossed the game, just unlucky/poor finishing.

England were very unlucky not to win by a lot more.

Some sloppy finishing, but a million times better then the previous games.
