Literally anything could have happened in this match and I'd believe it.

Can we change the thread title to "La France, C'est Merde [R]"?

Couldn't have happened to a more deserving bunch of dysfunctional jack asses.

We did 36 fouls in 3 matches, Switzerland has 47 in two.
Fucile, Victorino and Lugano have yellow.

Well, France did end up getting one goal this tournament.

Which is two more than they deserve. How can they still be considered a top 10 team in the world?

France actually scored more goals this year than in 2002.

ESPN's game announcer was pretty harsh on France, talking about how they leave the World Cup "in disgrace."

South Africa first host nation not to make it out of the group stage.

Bittersweet, but still a nice win for Bafana. They performed pretty well as hosts - whatever the circumstances, a win over France and a tie with Mexico isn't bad at all. A couple plays will haunt them a little (keeping Mexico on-sides, the red card/PK against Uruguay hurting goal differential, clanging the crossbar vs. France), but that's football. Nice to see them go out with a win.

Folks, the focus in these threads is supposed to be analysis, not taunting.

Yeah, but I don't think that was unexpected. They are only above North Korea in the rankings, and are probably the worst host team ever. To finish with 4 points is a rather respectable end I think. It's not like they were going to get towed through the playoffs by the refs like South Korea was in their World Cup.

Is someone bitter about their team not making the world cup?

They also finished 3rd in WC58.

The only good new is that they finally get rid of Domenech. Laurent Blanc can only do a better job.

Nonsense. South Korea went through their group quite fairly, only a few delusional individuals are still disputing that. South Africa got a totally BS red card in their favor, the referee did what he could. Their elimination is not really a result of a poor performance but the tightness of their group and just poor luck - it isn't often that you can notch a win and a tie in the group stage and still not advance.

    First congrats South Africa !

Then Domenech doesn't shake the hand of Parreira, he finishes to make us look like asses.

How disgraceful, from the beginning. Maybe the rugby national team should teach them a few gentleman tips.

About the players... They shall go home and hide, and they'd better hide well so that we don't see/hear them for the next 4 years !

    The Irish must be elated.

Now, if England goes out in group, they'll party as if they had won the Cup already.

LOL at the french team, what a disgrace to soccer, bunch of buffoons. i hope that team gets banned from euro2012 for the shit they pulled on the grandest of stages, they didnt deserve to play in world cup 2010 and they dont deserve to play in euro2012.

i thought for a second there around half time that SA might pull it out. what a heartbreaker that mphala shot off the post was, that might have pushed them on to get 1 more and advance, but it was not meant to be. then france scored soon after and dashed their hopes. still, a great game and i hope the fans/SA countrymen had a great time supporting their team in the world cup. they performed well, just not good enough to get through.

Korea got 5 goals against them disallowed. Even Blatter said that there was a problem with referees after that. I'm surprised anyone even considers this controversial.

red card was a joke, as was the handball and foul for the first goal. must be even more depressing for france is that with a convincing win today, despite all the sht, they would be in the next round now.

this is the thing about France - you never know what you're going to get with them. They're either going to win the whole thing or go out in the first round. I thought they could make the quarterfinals this time 'round but I guess not. Too bad their gone - great entertainment, :D Also sad to see the host nation out. They'll be happy with this performance - 4 points and a win over France. The seemingly infinite record of host nations making the 2nd round is now officially over....
