Blanco needs to go and Franco too. Put in Hernandez center and Barrera for temoc. We need more speed and quickness up top.

Halftime. Awesome ESPN CG montage comparing a Maradona avatar ("five foot five") vs. a Messi avatar ("perhaps an inch taller"). (The Maradona avatar stands on his tiptoes, looks at the camera, and grins)

Chícharo yes, but Bofo... not sure.

Temoc is way too slow. Age does not forgive. How about Venado on the left and Chícharo in the center?

England won 2 olympic tournaments in 1908 and 1912. Which was the biggest football tournament at the time. (My great great uncle was the captain both times)

But England doesn't count those as equivalent to World Cup achievements. So Uruguay shouldn't either.

Why did he take out Guardado? Weird.

Sorry, got confused, read Bautista instead of Barrera... watching two games at the same time.

Ding ding ding. They can put 17 stars on their shirt for all I care. They've won 2 World Cups. Period. With that being said, I too am glad they are performing well. It makes for good theater.

Weird stats in this match - 60-40 possession for Mexico but 5(2) vs 9(3) shot advantage for Uruguay and of course the goal :)

Football in the 08 and 12 olympics was not that big. The 24 and 28 olympics had more participants (6 countries in in '08, 11 in '12, 22 in '24 and 17 in '28) and are historically considered equivalent to World Cups.

Still, I had not counted them when I mentioned third star.

I don't know but I feel like buying a ticket to south africa and punching aguirre back to 1986. For f*cks sake...take Guille Franco out for the love of god, f*cking horrible.

Not very weird at all. Mexico is a possession oriented team. They had the same type of possession advantages playing against England at Wembley, and they still lost 3-1. It's just the way they play.

Possession means little, it's more important where that possession occurs.

But even that is not a good indicator, in the first half of the other match France had had a lot of possession in RSA's half.

Mexico needs to play much better to have a chance against Argentina.
