Here we go again with the CONMEBOL overconfidence and denigration of opponents. So typical. Fun fact: Senegal have never been beaten in the World Cup during regulation time.
I knew when I first saw Quintero in the 2013 South American U-20 championship that he'd be special. He was the best player of that tourney and I was shocked when he bounced around from club to club all these years. Glad to see him back on the big stage.
This might be a classical Polish World Cup. Exiting early after two games and then win the third game for pride.
And they give any European game 20% more value. Non European or aouth American team can get seeded for all practical purposes Glad to see Poland basically guaranteed to finsh dead last
Dude we were favorites to win the group for a while now; it's not overconfidence when we had a promising squad especially when we beat France 3-2 in their own stadium after being down 2-0. We have the attacking talent. But I will admit that most of the favorites have failed to step up like they're supposed to in this world cup.
First UEFA team out. Albeit Serbia and Iceland are only hanging by a thread, Denmark still at risk and one of Sweden / Germany very likely victims (or both if South Korea manage a shock win and Mexico beats Sweden).
I wonder if we'll see a disallowed Japanese equalizer, and for Poland to run down the other end and score...
Is it true he have never played a qualificaton game for this world cup or 2014 ? If that is true, wonder if he is the only player in history who have scored in two world cups and never played a qualify game.
O, yes! Those famed friendlies! You know who else beat France when they were World Champions? Senegal. You do know Senegal only need a draw? Honestly, you South Americans can be the worst.
Was this due to the fact that Netherlands and Italy were ousted, thus leaving a slot to fill for the next best FIFA ranking (in this case Poland)?
I didn't expect such a big win against Poland by Colombia, but they sure played Poland off the park. Poland looked poor and became the first UEFA side to be eliminated in this tournament, although certainly a few others are waiting their turn
Hey if you want to have confident with Senegal by all means but do not think for a second that Colombia isn't the strongest team in this group. I respect Senegal a lot and favored them to advance following their match against Poland and got bad luck against Japan but I WILL defend my country's rep and pride. Looking forward to the match on Thursday!
To be honest I would rather not qualify for any WC until I am dead then to have to go through this embarrassment again... And I do not care now if we win ELN...
In part, but it was more that they didn't lose points by playing friendlies and telying on their good results at the Euro and WC qualifyiers.
If you were the best how come you lost to Japan? And no. You did not have bad luck versus Japan. You played a stupid game and got deservedly beat.
That James pass is literally what I dream about. Like in my wildest soccer fantasy I am a midfielder making passes like that.
