What a bullshit call. Alonso should have not headed the rebound, Mendy had it. But if your going to give the PK thats understandable, but a red card? How wwas that intentional, it hit his KNEE and went up to his arm. Game ruining decision.
I’m certain that last season there was a reference in the laws to it not being a handball if the ball deflects up from another part of the body. I can’t find that reference any more.
If he gives the handball and believes the ball is going in without the handball then he has to give a red. Has to.
This game is as good as lost. Do you remember the last time Jorginho played in a 10 man team, without enough bodies to cover the ground behind him?
I guess a draw today would be as good as 3 points. I don't get how as a ref in such a big match you only look at the freeze pane and not the sequence. Just sucks that an otherwise great match has to be ruined by a ref.
Exactly. Not a penalty. He cleared the ball using his knee. It is impossible to raise your knee without also raising your arm. You cannot raise your knee with your arm tucked behind your back.
Even if he has the call right, he managed to still F it up. He makes the call after seeing just the freeze frame. If he watches the actual replay maybe he sees the ball come off James’ knee…and maybe he sees James move his shoulder/arm towards the ball. Regardless, we lost our cool. Dave needs to reign them in. You’re not going to talk him out of it.
Yes, but if it wasn't handball if it hits another part of his body first and then hits hand, (so not handball) then he shouldn't. I think this all goes back to the way they keep reinterpreting reality on what suits them at the time.
Harsh on Kai but someone had to come off up front. Just said on sky that's 8 red cards for Chelsea in this fixture.
How many yellows should the scouse players have? All those aggressive shitty challenges earlier on? Salah for kicking the ball away in the first half?
I'd have to see it again but I thought it had already hit his arm before the movement of the arm... In which case it was irrelevant.
Point is, one can't look at a still image and make that call. So if he sees the whole sequence and then decides, OK, fine, at least he did due diligence. This....... Rubbish.
