It gets worse when Venezuela scores right after that. Not that the yellow would have changed the goal, but Canada loses a great chance at an open goal, Venezuela is not penalized, then they turn around and level the game.

Well the behavior did, sure. The lack of a card didn't.

Jesse Marsch not getting sent off there is impressive. Not sure if he just controlled himself on the bench or we're playing CONMEBOL rules so he gets a free pass on whatever his reaction was.

It’s really unbelievable how the Spain-Germany match had 16 yellows and never really at any point felt like it would pop off into a mass con, yet every SINGLE copa America match feels like it can blow up at any moment

That is one of the dumbest things I've seen a referee do at any level of the game. Including U9. Instead of giving a yellow for delaying the restart, he just stops play and lets the keeper get back into the goal? What next? Stop a breakaway and let the defense walk back into position?

This is actually the WWE of football.
Looks like the referee is just on the pitch for show.
Someone will be pulling a foreign object from their socks by the end

I don't understand what he even gains by not cautioning the keeper. It's the first caution of the game for Venezuela that everyone will accept. He actually creates a bigger problem for himself not giving it. Really a terrible performance.

How is Marsch still in the game?

Orsato tossed the Slovenian coach for blowing up on one penalty decision and Marsch can pretty much do whatever he wants.

I'm tempted to say Marsch should've shown Sampaio a yellow card for delaying the Canadian restart.

What is wrong with this? This is completely slanted to Venezuela
I can’t understand the fouls being called and being missed.
This is a screw job against Canada

We don't know what he's saying, though. And he's basically just doing a Jurgen Klopp.

Head to head on a play in front of the technical areas, and the referee calls it a push and gives a free kick.

There's a reason that the fouls are 12-4 at this point in time.

There's a reason that CONCACAF teams are committing a lot of fouls and getting a lot of cards.

And it isn't because they're the only ones actually committing offences.

Well after the texture testing in Canada's attacking penalty area, too.

Maybe we've been way too hard on CONCACAF officiating.

Wrong. The dumbest thing I’ve seen a referee do happened not more than 4 days ago when he issued a yellow card then played advantage. Much worse than this.

You know, it’s funny. In the euros everyone trashes the referees. Even Anthony Taylor, Michael Oliver, hell even Turpin gets some criticisms here and there. The Europeans don’t know how bad it is on this half of the world. Can you imagine this performance in a premier league game or if this guy was heading Spain-Germany?

74' head injury all comes from an easy elbow-yellow card that Sampaio doesn't even call a foul.

Ultimately Canada's appalling lack of finishing ability is what is killing them most in this match

Was that Venezuela's first caution (90+4)?
