Well... that's one theory (as legit as any other speculation out there). Another is that the team doesn't want him back 'cause he snitched on one of their extracurricular gatherings Tata's gone after Mexico bows out here... and they'll need to blood a new generation for '26.
Everyone still has advancing in their own hand. Mexico needs big win vs Saudi Arabia, Saudi Arabia needs to win, etc.
Could be a little bit of both. Still, they could've used him. Yup. And to be honest, they should start this January. At the very least, Ochoa (who's retiring), Talavera, Cota, Moreno, Araujo, Guardado (retiring), Herrera, Martín and Funes Mori should never be called up again.
I still lol that Funes Mori randomly turned Mexican. Neither twin ended up being particularly great at all
you know im not sure I understood Mexico's lineup. The starting lineup had Vega and Lozano as the only forwards? So 2 wingers? later on he subbed on some 9's
Yeah. It's clear he wanted to bunker behind and hold on while using Vega and Lozano's speed to counter. Truth be told, it was not a bad strategy, but the subs were late and more than questionable (leaving Edson Álvarez on the bench? Roberto Alvarado?).
Argentina isn't creative like before. The NT era of Messi ended in the Final match against Germany in 2014. Everything after, struggle of Messi and everything depends a lot on his good day. Focus on Messi created lack of focus in other positions: LB, RM, LM, RM where they all duplicate and make center shots. Will Messi place Dybala in attack finally? It's evident that he selects players in NT for years.
I was waiting for him to do something. I don't watch club soccer so I was wondering what's so great about him. That was a very nice goal. But he's not the type of player who can weave through the opposition like the Brazilian Ronaldo & Pele did but I guess those kind of players are very rare. Who is the closest to that kind of player in this World Cup?
i'm sorry sir but i do not currently see any player there worthy of being on the same level as Ronaldo. I am not old enough to have really watched Pele play.. but R9 (right after the era of Diego Armando Maradona) were the 2 players that always had me in awe watching them play. I don't have that with any of this generation to that level.
What is R9? You think Pele and Maradona had the best ball handling skills? What about Brazilian Ronaldo?
I admit I'm no expert but Messi can't ball handle like Brazilian Ronaldo did or even France's Zidane. Of course that doesn't mean he's bad or anything.
Ronaldo and Maradona for me. Both magical. Might give a slight edge to Maradona cause he always did more with less supporting cast.
This has been a problem since the start of WCQ (barely scraping a win at home against Jamaica), but nearly 15 months later and Tata's no closer to an answer than when he started.
You can argue that he had one of the best single world cup peformances.. but length of career / skills i can't myself.
