80’-That sure did not look offside on the POR left side run. I thought two Congolese defenders (left back and RCB) held him on.

Agree, it is one of those weird loopholes where if that was in the penalty area the offside gets overturned and you get a penalty kick.

    But just outside you don't.

The aggressive waiving the flag down at 83' when he played advantage on offside made me chuckle.

True. What gets me is how a FIFA AR can get that one so wrong. Forget the RCB-the play is right in front of AR2. I would expect a decent high school or upper level club AR to get that call right.

That 92' minute challenge felt orange to me. The Fox commentators are dead on straight red there.

I probably think yellow is the right call there but boy is it close.

The spirit of the game demands a red card, but considerations and technicalities say otherwise.

I think everybody should be glad that didn't happen in the 12th minute because that really could have changed the tone of the game.

Darren Fletcher just tearing Clattenberg a new one on his analysis was funny. He pulled zero punches.

Oh yeah, Fletcher and Hargreaves wanted the reddest of red there while Clattenberg just kept calmly explaining why he saw it as yellow.

It's where players have a better feel than over instructed and over analyzed referees here.

Can we get a minute on the thing you all are talking about with the orange and everyone wanting red?

If you’re able to find a clip or have it recorded, check out 90+2. An DR Congo player was wrapped up around the neck on a promising attack. Shouts for VC. Caution called.

I think an aspect of this I don't see widely recognized is that most of what actually imparts the force that stops the attacker is the collision between the players and not the arm restraining him at neck height. I suspect those baying for a red imagine the latter is how this actually happened, and if it did I'd concede the point.

I have yellow too. This was mostly a body check. The hold afterwards was across the chest

Maybe I’m analyzing this too much, but the end of the action could be a “pull”. The question is whether that pull was because of the momentum from the initial action or if that was a second action.

Full speed, which is how we really need to consider the play, I have more “momentum” than second action, but it’s close.

Enough for Al-Jassim to get another game?
