Bumping for kickoff. This one could be fun.

That's a good yellow at 13'. And Ronaldo was handled about as well as you can in that sort of situation.

12' or 13', the only thing saving Silva is that the Congo player's foot was an inch off the ground.

Silva is not Messi, Al Jassim is not Marciniak. ergo YC!
But maybe Marciniak gives it too!

The implication is you think that's close to red?

Again, I think we all need to recalibrate for the World Cup. It's a reach, more than a lunge. The player is up pretty quickly. It's reckless all day but we are several degrees away from SFP.

Decision was absolutely correct but not taken in a convincing manner. It was very rushed and he avoided eye contact with the offender. After watching Beida last night the juxtaposition in soft skills is very apparent!

Yes, I do think that's close to red. High force, studs to the ankle, locked knee.

Okay then. I think you're going to be disappointed this tournament if that's your standard.

If all that happens when the target leg is the standing one, sure. But on a free leg the point of contact or intensity needs to be much higher for SFP.

Normally I hate posting still photos like they mean anything.

Sure cleating a free leg needs higher force, which is why yellow was ultimately correct.

32' - I get the tight approach to the game, but is that not just one player jumping higher than another?

Has Al-Jassim worked in the Saudi leage before? Curious since I know Saudi has used referees from other nations before. That could be a good thing to have some previous face time with Portugals players that play in Saudi Arabia, namely Ronaldo.

That’s not even a foul much less a card at 31’. If anything the POR player is eyeing the opponent.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of that call. The Portuguese player jumped at an angle into the DRC player. Was he supposed to make his arm disappear?

What on earth are the Portuguese players complaining about to the ref?

I'd guess amount of stoppage time, it was about 4:30 into 4 minutes of announced stoppage.

And they would have been fine with the ref ending a half when they were lining up for a CK . . .

Was that the first goal kick converted to a corner for taking too much time? Seems a little ludicrous to do this when the opposing team then takes even longer to take the corner than the original team was taking for the goal kick

Just got back from a work meeting. Within 60 seconds of sitting down, we saw the fracas in front of the Portugal bench around 67’.

    Checks out……
