The ball movement was weird on Forlan's goal but I guess that was probably due to the deflection.

I have seen it bounce up quickly and skip away off the turfm but thats the best camera shot I have seen of th eball shifting about like that as well. Got to feel sorry for VE he has had a cracking game, but the ball swerved crazily.

Yeah, I've never watched soccer before. It is weird how the Greek attack started to look so much better after minute 33 or so. I'm not sure what to make of that.

Well. In the game of soccer the referee has the option of sending someone off for a very blatant or violent challenge. Earlier in the game.......... ;)

I don't like Argentina against Euro teams, even if it's Greece. Greece plays with a lot of guts, they know they need a result where Arg. just need a draw.

Punch might have been too strong a word - parry or block might have been the better choice. He had his hands open to try to catch it, and when the ball swerved, he had to lunge off balance, and it left him unable to clean up.

I wouldn't even say it was a mistake on his part. When the ball was halfway - or even 2/3 of the way - to him, he had it played correctly. Very difficult to change technique in reaction to the ball in a split second.

Well, with this result we finally have our first elimination of the tournament: Nigeria.

Indeed this is the difference. A man more does not account to that. Sure they have it easier but they seem to actually play football now.

The Greece that was outplayed by South Korea who just got destroyed by Argentina? The Greece who were losing to a poor Nigeria before they went down to 10 men?

this it true. what worries me is the goalkeeper. he does not seem to be top class ... might just be unlucky goal he got though. He did nice after it

    If this stays:

    1. Argentina, 6/+4
    2. S. Korea, 3/-1
    3. Greece, 3/-1
    4. Nigeria, 0/-2

So, Argentina is virtually qualified. S. Korea would need to win 5-0 or more to threaten. Same for Greece. Neither is going to happen. So Diego is likely to rest players.

I can see Greece losing barely to Argentina. But I think S. Korea will win over Nigeria. Sorry, this Nigeria is weak. So, IMO, it will be Argentina + S. Korea going to the R16.

Well, they'd have to beat Korea (doubtful) AND would be relying on Argentina to beat Greece by a healthy margin.

If Argentina goes all-out then it'll be at least 5-0 if Greece play like they have been. However, there's a chance that Argentina don't go all-out and the score is much closer. Regardless, Greece has no chance unless they vastly improve and I don't see that happening.
