I don't fault him for missing the foul. But he should be scrutinized for showing a yellow-card. If you're not sure, don't show a yellow for diving. Seems simple enough to me.

Simpleminded, maybe. I said I wasn't sure, not the referee. If ITOOTR there was a dive, he should punish it.

If he thought it was a dive then he thought wrong and thus deserves criticism. Especially since it didn't really look like a dive. Just like a linesman should be criticized if he thought something was onside when it was actually offside by a lot.

Sitting back in my comfy chair resting a drink on my ample belly, watching multiple reverse angle slow motion HD close up replays while the post game commentators explain it to me, it is glaringly obvious the referee is an incompetent boob who needs to be thrown under the bus.

Live feed at real speed from the camera at a similar angle to the referee, my first thought was ridiculous flutter footed dive from a noted diver. The boy who cries wolf suffers the consequences.

    Karagounis! Karagounis!

Well, booking the wrong guy is always a big mistake. There's no point in blaming it on the player. It doesn't make Eriksson an 'incompetent boob', but it's really hard to see him get another game in this tournament isn't it ?
