St. Louis CITY SC (3-9-5) v. Los Angeles Galaxy (1-12-4) Saturday, June 14, 2025, 3:30 PM CT Energizer Park MLS Season pass, Apple TV+, FOX, FOX Deportes Here is the MLS Soccer Match Information CITY is 3-9-5, 14 Points, 14 GF 22 GA, Net -8, Form DDWWLLLLDDLLDLL WL Home: 2-3-3, 9 Points, 7 GF 8 GA, Net -1, Form DWLLDLD W Away: 1-6-2, 5 Points, 7 GF 14 GA, Net -7, Form DWLLDLLL L The Galaxy are 1-12-4, 7 Points, 15 GF 36 GA, Net -21, Form LLLDDLLDLLLLLDLLW Home: 1-5-2, 5 Points, 8 GF 15 GA, Net -7, Form LLLDLDLW Away: 0-7-2, 2 Points, 7 GF 21 GA, Net -14, Form LDDLLLLLL CITY is 1-1-0 under Coach Critchley, with a home win and a road loss. The Galaxy won their last match after a record worst start coming off a championship season. CITY has been shut out 8 times this season, 3 at home, but not under Critchley. The Galaxy have been shut out 7 times this season, 4 on the road, but not in their last two road matches. This is the first match of the second half of the season. CITY is 8 points behind the last playoff team. Los Angeles is 15 behind. Currently, the last Western playoff team is on track for a 44-Point season. CITY loses all tiebreakers. To reach 45 points, CITY needs to average 1.82 PPG for the rest of the season and to reach 45, the Galaxy need to average 2.24 PPG. There’s no sugar-coating this match. It’s two teams having awful seasons, trying to salvage some respect. It’s a must-win situation with no upside and a massive downside. This is two doomed gladiators forced to fight to the death for absolutely nothing. Discuss.

Lowen is out 4-6 weeks with his hammy and Kessler missed training today. At what point does this stop being a coincidence?
I like Lowen, but I don't see him coming back. I think Kessler will be OK, but is being cautious. We need him healthy and we need Durkin healthy. If there ever was a time, the Galaxy match is a golden opportunity to evaluate the younger players. Wallem will be back this week. Hiebert may be available. Joyner is back from his international duty. CITY needs to think about bringing Pearce onto the first team in now time. Zalinsky made a strong case that he belongs in the XI. McSorley did a darned good Gio impersonation, and turned some heads. Watts had a whale of a math. Reid has found a home in the lineup. The lost man in the young guns shuffle right now seems to be Glover. We need to figure out where or if he's going to fit. He has all the skills, but I don't know his mindset, and that's important.
Here is the disciplinary report for our match St. Louis CITY SC. Suspended: none. YC Caution: none. Los Angeles Galaxy. Suspended: Edwin Cerrillo (YC accumulation). YC Caution: Emiro Garces. CITY has now completed a half season without having any player on the YC Caution list. We have had some players suspended for mustard-and-ketchups and for straight reds, but none on the YC naughty list (yet). That's both good and bad news. Part of it is because CITY has had so many players miss so many matches due to injuries
In Thursday's Pre-Match Press Conference (video below), Coach Critchley said that Horn and Teuchert will be available for this match. Player Availability Report. St. Louis CITY SC. Out: Rasmus Alm, Chris Durkin, Henry Kessler, Eduard Löwen, Joakim Nilsson - Knee (Out). Questionable: none. Los Angeles Galaxy. Out: Miguel Berry, Diego Fagundez, Riqui Puig. Questionable: none. Broadcast Teams. English language: Neil Sika and Lloyd Sam. Spanish language: Jesus Acosta and Carlos Suarez. FOX: Mike Watts and Tony Meola.
Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Burki; Totland, Baumgartl, Horn, Reid; Wallem, Watts; Teuchert, Hartel, Pompeu; Klauss Not thrilled with Horn at the CB but he's better than Yaro or Hiebert. Critchley opted for Durkin there last time Kessler wasn't ready, but I could see him going with Hiebert there. Not thrilled with Watts in my lineup, but he did well against Portland and deserves a runout; if not him, Morales gets the nod. If Teuchert isn't fit to go from the start, it will be Becher again on the right, but I think I would prefer Becher as Klauss' replacement around the 60 minute mark.
After his last match, I'm interested in seeing how fans react if Zalinsky comes into the match. He has potential to become an instant fan favorite. Maybe our new Indy or Parker?
On the positive side, freaking Klauss! Been waiting for this kind of performance, and what a hatty it was. Two absolute bangers. This result is gonna make the difficult task of making the playoffs a mission impossible, but on the positive side, that late goal maintains a healthy distance from the Wooden Spoon (how sad that this is what our season has become in June). I said this after the Columbus game back in April. I think this can work in a back 3, but in a back 4 it leaves us woefully exposed. Baumgartl is out of position on the first 2 goals and was also nowhere to be found when Paintsil had a breakaway from midfield in the first half. I hope Xande Silva joins Pidro and Blom on the never-gonna-wear-a-CITY-jersey-again list. Hartel needs to stop taking set pieces. At this point, let Burki come up and take the corners, anyone but Hartel!! Zalinsky looked out of his depth today for the first time. I think he has potential, but he's not there yet. I know it's only been 3 games, but give Critchley the job!
Here are two highlights videos posted by CITY (the traditional one and a special one for the Klauss hat trick) and the Post-Match Press Conference video.
