Re: Match 17|South Africa vs. Uruguay|16-06-10|Pre-match discussion Most dangerous player fron RSA: Tshabalala. Guy is a bullet, with a clinical eye to score. I'm surprised he's never made it out of the ABSA.
Re: Match 17|South Africa vs. Uruguay|16-06-10|Pre-match discussion thank god uruguay took out nacho. he was dreadful last game
Re: Match 17|South Africa vs. Uruguay|16-06-10|Pre-match discussion My preferred result would be a South Africa win, followed by a 2-2 draw between France and Mexico, which would set up one hell of a last day for Group A.
Re: Match 17|South Africa vs. Uruguay|16-06-10|Pre-match discussion How awesome is it that the S. African players are singing in the tunnel? That is pretty cool.
Re: Match 17|South Africa vs. Uruguay|16-06-10|Pre-match discussion do south africa always sing during team walk outs, or was it something they stumbled on in their last match by accident, and have repeated this week? it must be very annoying if you are playing them. uruguay should win this one, but a draw is most likely outcome given the results of this wv so far.
Re: Match 17|South Africa vs. Uruguay|16-06-10|Pre-match discussion I'm guessing he won't be playing in South Africa after this tournament, unless he wants to stay at home (a la Eddie Pope in MLS).
Re: Match 17|South Africa vs. Uruguay|16-06-10|Pre-match discussion It reminds me of the kids in that baseball move taunting the other teams players as they step up to bat. If this is some kind of mind game thing, it's awesome.
Re: Match 17|South Africa vs. Uruguay|16-06-10|Pre-match discussion a lot of teams sing on the way to the stadium and in the locker room, etc. uruguay and argentina do as well
Re: Match 17|South Africa vs. Uruguay|16-06-10 PBP I dunno about this one. Uruguay should win, but June 16th is a pretty special day for this country. I would not discount the morale boost the S. African players are going to have from playing today in front of a huge home crowd.
Re: Match 17|South Africa vs. Uruguay|16-06-10 PBP Come on Bafana Bafana! Don't become the first host nation not to go through... I say 2-1 South Africa
Re: Match 17|South Africa vs. Uruguay|16-06-10 PBP It seems the Chile/Honduras ref reigned himself in after a dreadful first half. Howard Webb was not horrendous during the Spain/Switzerland match. So here's hoping the Swiss ref continues the welcome trend of non-protagonist officiating.
No, it doesn't seem so. Why does that have to be booked? And is that Pienaar's second yellow in the tourney? Was he booked against Mexico?
Stupid yellow card to Pienaar. He should know better than that. And uggh, Ally McCoist in the booth again. I can't stand listening to him.
Re: Match 17|South Africa vs. Uruguay|16-06-10 PBP Reffing has been the best thing about this WC. Only South Korea got hosed and they won 2-0 anyway.
To me that's a no-brainer. And the players have been warned that encroaching on free kicks can result in cautions. Not sure if he got a yellow against Mexico. If he had, I assume the announcers would have said so.
If Uruguay don't score in the next 10 minutes, they'll go turtle for a while. A long while. Unlike other teams, when they score is when the keep on attacking.
Uruguay is a weird team for several things. One is that they tend to play better away from home, and the more vicious the crowd is against them, the more they love it. Another is that the tiny country itself is for the most part at sea level, but their team can play well at altitude. The last one is that when they can't score, they go and defend and turn boring. It's when they score one that they keep on attacking to score another.
