I think argentina has helped him temporarily by going to quick passes and movement. Forced football to occur.

If you’ve been critical or doubtful so far, you have no clue. His first 15 was excellent.

Uh, methinks that Elfath needs to reel it in somehow.

It's settled down a bit now. Hopefully the next hard foul is an easy enough yellow.

The grappling on the ground was interesting. Good no-call before that involving the same two players.

    For the record:

    - If the context makes clear which gender is playing, I just say "World Cup." If I'm writing about a Women's World Cup game, and it's clearly not men, it's "World Cup." If it's a milestone that applies only to one gender (say, Elfath being the "first" to handle a "World Cup" semi), I say "men's World Cup." Because it's the 21st century.

    - If we want to be pedantic, this tournament is the "World Cup finals." The "World Cup" has more than 200 teams. Which also means FIFA decided to institute LOTG changes mid-competition.

wow. Cant even think something might have helped settle into football sooner ? I agree nothing blatantly wrong but i think he could have managed several things better to help both teams focus on football. But then, apparently i have no clue.

What great management on the corner. Told both the keeper and the attacker "I got this, I'm not putting up with this all game", then positioned himself where he had a clear view, and BOOM, whistled before the ball came down for a very clear foul. Well done.

Elfath couldn't change that. Cards couldn't change that. The players didn't want to play football. But they're starting to, and that's in part credit to Elfath not overreacting.

Simeone does not believe impeding with the goalkeeper applies to him or Argentina.

Brushes up against Pickford before the corner and Elfath does his job to stop the play and address it. Corner is taken and he goes into Pickford anyway and a foul is called coming out.

    Nothing surprising so far.

29' puzzling call against England in front of the benches; poor camera work so hard to interpret.

32' Bellingham fouled while dribbling toward Arg box. Possible advantage?

Looks like my post predicting that England would get the first yellow was deleted.

This is not an easy game, but assignment should have gone to Marciniak. Elfath is hanging on here.
