You love to see it. Hopefully won’t be quite a direct copy of Tomori - would like this one to stick around!
I thought they'd started booing him and then realised they were shouting 'SHOOT' every time he was on the ball
Werner seems to have picked up where he left off. Running hard, getting in good positions, little final product. Interested to see him playing with Lukaku on occasion.
Of all the players we have I think he will benefit most from playing with lukaku. He needs that line leading striker in there for his best attributes to shine. I'm hopeful it will almost be like adding two new goal threats with one signing.
Be interesting to see if he benefits from VAR becoming a little looser with the offside adjudications, too.
I think we just had better players all over the pitch. As the commentary said, they spent most of the time chasing shadows. Apparently our fans were singing 'Down with the Arsenal... you're going down with the Arsenal' to the tune of 'Guantanamera'
Yes we were, great to be back to an almost full bridge. Small corner empty although due to the seat problems. We have a stiff start to the season, bring it on
That was a dominant performance. Yes, Palace looked bad. A lot of that has to do with gameplan and our quality. Mendy: Didn't have to do much. Was fine. Az: Solid, as always. A new player under Tuchel. Chalobalah: MOTM deserved. What a debut. TT playing serves two purposes. He deserves the start, for one, and two, it sends a message to others - especially those looking for contract extensions. Christensen: I think we're finally seeing him reach his potential in front of our eyes. Rudiger: Another quality performance from Squidward. Alonso: Haters gunna hate, but in this system, there are few better. He's one of our best attackers. What a player to have in your - ahem - arsenal. Jorginho and Kova: Played nicely together, though neither one of them will ever threaten goal. This scares me. Pulisic: Sparkling and fun. He was dropping into the middle quite a bit and causing Palace fits. Mount did work on the touchline, but Puli took the goal nicely in a team that is struggling for them. Mount: Typical Mountie performance. Barely any preseason - so what? Wener: Typical, too. Lots of running, off the ball stuff, no shots? What a weird player. Will be immense when Luk comes in, if he's able to hold his place. No Kante, Chillwell, Lukaku, Ziyech? No problem. Surely Tammy is off. Our upcoming schedule is pretty stupid.
Jorginho is kind of like a ref, he's at his best when you dont notice him. I think the best thing we've seen under tuchel is the fact that we arent at all dependent on silva to manage the backline any more. We were worried about how long he could keep going but now it really feels he is a luxury and he can ease towards retirement without carrying a huge weight. Still class, but no longer crucial. And that sentiment was even before what we are seeing emerging from the academy (one of the best pipelines in world football).
Talking more in general rather than just today. The evolution of the team in a relatively short period. Today you and I could have played and Chelsea would have won
I see myself more as a midfield general kinda player, who doesn't move around much and, preferably, is seated. I could take over Jorginho's pointing duties for him, leaving him more energy for actually running around
"I'm lost for words," Chalobah said. "It's been an amazing week for me. I've been at this club since I was eight. Playing at Stamford Bridge where I have been watching a lot of games, being a ball boy, watching games with my family... finally playing here is amazing." Chalobah moved to England at the age of four and grew up in Gipsy hill in Lambeth.
I don't often miss a game if I can help it but couldn't see this one, I'm assuming it was pretty routine, I've seen the MOTD highlights but it's difficult to gauge a performance from highlights. It feels surreal seeing fans back in stadiums.
