So we had a penalty there if the goal isn’t scored or no?

Absolutely. Yellow for DOGSO for me. It’s a great “keep your whistle out of your mouth and wait to see what happens.”

The poor fox announcer couldn’t tell if he was signalling goal or foul coming out. :ROFLMAO:

Well he passed the ball away before he was apparently fouled so DOGSO has to be out. But yeah, I think the collision means it’s a foul. Unlucky for the goalkeeper because the result was inevitable, but it’s all moot anyway.

Based on Valenzuela body language, I have doubts over whether he was ready to give it, though.

Were getting VAR images of blatant onside calls this tournament?

Man, di Maria seems like he has been around forever and I think he’s only 35 or 36

Try selling this result after you screamed at everyone. Not good.

Maybe not. It might just be outside.

And that's what saved him. How do you not have a foul there? In the old days, just give it outside and let VAR fix it if it is in.

I don't need to see the rest of the tournament to know Rosetti only wanted an Argentinian referee to come to the Euros.

FS1 announcers "For fans used to MLS "clear and obvious" at this level its about getting the call right".

    WTF does that mean?

That's a really soft foul for that SPA.

I’ve liked Valenzuela when I’ve seen him in the past. Something seems different here.

That is a nasty lunge. That Canadian player is totally out of control. How is that not a yellow?

Canada is lucky there wasn’t a red there. It was orange and wasn’t even cautioned

Canada could be up 2-1 or down 6-0.

Valenzuela's response to somewhat-justified dissent from Canada after he misses clear fouls by Argentina seems to be to just yell at people. This performance has not left a good impression to me.

I've watched 3, now 4, Valenzuela games. I really liked him on the very difficult Argentina-Colombia semifinal in 2021. USA-England was a boring game without much for him to do. He walked straight into a knockout stage game in France-Poland which, in my view, was a quite bad performance with lots of mistakes that flew under the radar because the game was simple.

This Argentina-Canada game has also had lots of mistakes, along with some not-so-good player management. I'm sympathetic to the fact that aggressive management of players is more commonplace in South America than we are used to, but it still hasn't been effective.
