I'm still here...still watching. Kante looks like a player for sure. Gonna be a long season I think though. Somehow I got the Toronto FC and Revolution MLS game on my dish tonight so I'm watching that as well.
I'm ready for next week...I'll be there.

from what it sounds like from the carolina announcers some players might have injuries and a lot of the internationals are just having issues getting their papers through to play here. Not sure if that's on their home countries end or getting the US end.

Well my friends, our first game was fraught with issues...

However...don't forget...we're AC till we die.

    (Thank you Day Pints.)

    0-1 to start the campaign.

Seriously, we couldn't play 11 because Kante left his ID at the hotel? What, he couldn't just become a sub? Is there some rule stating you can't change your starting XI or what? Seemed really odd to me.

Got the whole game on a quality feed. A lot of great opportunity. A few blown chances, especially when we had options. Too many guys wanting to be a hero. Who knows.

The 17th doesn't get here fast enough.

Oh, and if I may: The god damn REFS looked more like an ACSTL team than we did (green-black-black). Yellow and white? Fail.

They looked a lot better in the 2nd half, and controlled and moved the ball well, but the finishing was, for lack of a better word, awful.

Oh, and whats the French word for IDENTIFICATION!

Well, shame that they lost their first match, but it was great to watch a live, streaming feed that involved soccer and a team from St. Louis. Absolutely cannot wait for next Saturday. I'll be at midfield, ready to go absolutely nuts for our boys in green and white (and yellow, possibly).

And I got my wish - meeting a few St. Louis fans (not all of them resident in Missouri; a couple players had family travel from other places to catch the game), who demonstrated all the passion and class I expected after what I've heard about your preseason. Some of them even joined in 204's post-game festivities.

Your team may have struggled tonight, but its fans have proved you rock.

A Noble shirt? You mean a player who actually wants to stay in East London? Perish the thought!

Here's to Diamanti wanting the same...but I won't hold my breath.

    Up the Hammers!

They still haven't been scored on with 11 on the field, right?

Edit: We only used one sub in the game? Did we only have twelve players there?

They scored like 8 or 9 during the preseason.

Give them time. They looked much better after Kante got there.

I remember watching and disliking him in the preseason...geez.

I can't believe people aren't outraged with starting the game with 10 players. To me, that's an embarassment to St. Louis soccer. That might be a 1st in St. Louis soccer history. Regardless, a complete joke.

Anelka should have told Kante to just sit the bench and played someone else.

Yup. As a Carolina fan, I'm slightly embarrassed for you that Anelka let the team play short rather than sub Kante out and put him in next game, particularly as the fault was Kante's for forgetting his papers.

I don't think it shows much respect for the rest of his bench that he's willing to play a man down for half an hour if it means being able to play one certain player for the rest of the game.

I actually spent the first 20 minutes or so shocked at how poor you all were and then I finally realized it was because you were down a player and I couldn't figure out why. Weird stuff.

A total embarrassment, beyond excuse or explanation. This is what I expect from my rec league, not a team I'm actually paying to see. This is not how to convince the general St. Louis sports-watching public that you should be taken seriously as a team. This is not how you convince your season ticket holders to splurge for a jersey or other merchandise on the 17th.

I'm not sure who's fault it was and I don't care, this is just unacceptable. If I show up on the 17th and we're starting with 10 men because somebody left his wallet at his home-stay, I'm walking out and never coming back.

    Epic Failure

I think you guys are being too hard on Kante, he probably had his initial id stolen from the locker room at the Wizards training complex.........no wait.

    That's cold.

Doesn't the organization have a Team Administrator that takes care of stuff like this??

I was all for giving the guy a chance, but this was painfully stupid. I mean really, really stupid.

As if Kante is the deal breaker player for our club.

What's worse is I'm sitting there watching the feed and it cuts to Anelka on the bench yawning and fighting to keep his eyes open.

Yeah, I'd be bored too if I had to watch that first half again.
