since there is a lot of buzzing about maybe mastroeni coming to us or maybe armas coming from the fire. Which would you rather have?

Mastroeni. No question. Armas has regressed a bit in the last couple of years, and Mastroeni is both bigger and distributes the ball better.

There is no buzz about Armas going anywhere. Myself and some others were speculating at one time that Armas could be the "embargoed" player. Bergin subsequently stated it was not him--and that he was not going anywhere.

DTron then started a thread regarding the Fire's options that included a hypothetical discussion of many options the Fire would have--including Armas being traded. However, I have not read anything about Armas' name actually coming up in trade talk. Goff certainly hasn't heard of it--and he's "Mr. Reliable" in my book. It's much more likely Wolff would be the max player they'd dump if they were to make such a move. Judging by the reaction of Fire fans on the board, who are more in touch with their situation that DCU fans, it sounds like Armas is definitely not going anywhere.

Same goes for Pablo... no credible rumors that he's been discussed, although there is some logic to the notion that he would be available for the right price... probably the #1 plus an allocation.

I'd much rather have Pablo, but I don't think either is worse their likely price-tag.

Pablo, simply because he is younger.

Not that there is any chance either of them are coming to DC.

Although I suppose Pablo having played for Ray in Miami may get Ray's juices flowing, and maybe he will trade for him. We shall see.

Pablo's a badass. I'd take him over Armas easily.

However, I don't see either of them joining DC United this season.

    ### I JUST HAVE TO SAY ... ###

    < commence rant >

Mathis. Mastroeni. Armas. Geez! Listen to yourselves!

I'm growing weary of these flights of imagination.

Idle talk is getting inflated into rumors and rumors are getting inflated into serious discussion. I know that's regular BigSoccer.com fare but the DC United board has traditionally been above that sort of thing - well, most of the time anyway.

I'd like to see the DC United board return to its traditionally more grounded discussion.

At least Gazza had some basis in (sad) reality.

Armas is (very) overrated. Mastroeni for sure, but neither are coming unfortunately.

If we could actually have our choice between the two, I would definitely want Mastro.

    mastroeni or armas?

    Yes.

I would love to have this kind of difficult decision to make. Much better than Gazza or some other has been.
