So I think it would be a good idea to call DA tomorrow morning and thank him for the Wiz pimping all week and talk about the match. I will also be doing my usual Rapid Fire in the morning on the Freak show. Basicly call in to the soccer friendly shows and make yourself heard.
Re: Mass Call in Yeah, I couldn't agree more. great idea. probably don't bother calling whitlock of course.
Re: Mass Call in 5:30-9am 610 Sports Man, they could not have seen a better game. Maybe they'll try to do it again for Friday . . .
Re: Mass Call in He played audio of a couple of our chants. Both were "anti-ref" chants. Kind of surprised there were no "bleeps" in one chant.
Re: Mass Call in Yeah. I guess a$$ is acceptable? works for me. Also, the hooligan audio is up on the site. Find it here
Re: Mass Call in i'm listening this morning and i shot them an email. he's spending almost more time talking about the wizards game and experience than he is about the chiefs.
Re: Mass Call in I have been emailing him as well. I think DA is a great soccer fan and could really help the wizards get some recognition. This will be their last home game so I really think we should hit him and the kc star as much as possible. It has been an incredible even before you get to all of our injuries. I know every team has to deal with them, but has any other team had to deal with last years mvp only playing in a game or two...in addition to 2 other leaders of the team that had (meola) or were about to be called in to the nats? That is pretty awesome.
Re: Mass Call in We should all call in Friday. This is the last home game of the season, this is a weekday game so we can call in on the day of the game. So lets all call in and make them talk about this game. NOTE: I edited the thread title to catch more attention. I also stickied it. Let's make this happen like we did for the WCQ!
Re: Mass Call in done. while we are at it, lets just hit him all week with email & phone. him and the star both.
Did anyone hear the Trecker interview that DA did!?!? It's on the audio link here. I had no idea that he did this! Scroll down the page and click the interview that says "soccer interview gone bad". I don't like how he ridicules soccer's importance a little because of Trecker, but Trecker came off like a jackass. http://www.610sports.com/610am/audio.asp
That was great. DA really stuck it to him. I think a great part was when Trecker tried to establish his importance in the soccer-world by boasting of his ESPN connections. What a joke. But the funniest part was obviously when Trecker responded to the interview and demanded an apology. He said it was "completely uncalled for that the [interviewer] had no familiarity with anything that I was talking about." Sorry, Jamie, but I don't think YOU have any familiarity with what you're talking about. What a sucker. And yes, it was a little disappointing to hear DA degrade soccer afterwards, but DA seems to be a legitimate soccer fan. At least he seemed to have done a great job with the Wiz Wagon.
I hear ya, it sounds really bad now since he has jumped on the bandwagon. Maybe just a ploy to create more interest for his show.
I tried to call in this morning but just got a busy signal. I listened until I had to go in to work. Can't listen at work, to much interference for am stations. DA started talking about the game when I left my car. He sounded excited. I'll try tomorrow again.
Now that was a strange interview. The bad thing is that anyone who heard this "soccer expert" and hasn't followed soccer will probably be turned off from soccer. It's pretty bad when the soccer experts take a chance to have some good exposure and turn it around to a side show. Has anyone ever heard of this guy before?
That interview was good for the Wizards in my opinion. He destroys Trecker in the interview, and then humiliates him. The whole "How will we go on without soccer columns in the Sports Business Journal" is a dig at Trecker that he's a pompous ass who grossly overestimates his importance not only in the realm of soccer, but in the sports world in general.
I've traded emails with DA since I moved here 2 years ago. He used to play soccer, up through high school, if I remember correctly. I don't think he's a fair-weather fan. He makes it sound like bad-mouthing soccer was the station's M.O. until he got the green light to cover the USWNT game and then the Wiz Wagon, which was billedd more as a "since the Royals and Chiefs are so dreadful, this will be KC's only playoff game this sports year" deal than a pro-soccer plug. Here's an excerpt from an email I got from him prior to the SJ series. (I had been busting on him a little because, in his interview with Cat Reddick, he had her bio in front of him and obviously skipped all of the USWNT, WUSA, and college soccer stuff and went right to the "personal" material) If you heard his interview with Josh and Jimmy last week, right afterward, he got on air and literally thanked all his listeners for the huge response to their promotion. It was pretty cool. I'll try to call in. (never actually done it before) Heck, if every schmo in KC can call in to talk about who the Chiefs nickelback is going to be this week, we ought to be able to discuss if Khari is going to start at A-Mid again!!!
I just listened again to the interview and the answerwing machine message. The one who needs to apologise is Trecker. Does anyone have a e-mail address for Trecker or his bosses? Maybe we should e-mail them.
Did you know that Petro was the stadium announcer for the Wiz in year one? Wizards blubs all day on both stations. DA with a bit, Petro and KK also chimed in.
Don't know if anyone heard it (I DOUBT IT) but I got on today. On hold for about 40 minutes, they gave me 20 seconds. I had WANTED to talk about Kerry and Khari - but with only 20 seconds: reminded people that we are 6-0-0 in our last 6 games at Arrowhead - ALL shutouts. And told people to get out there. Was kind of frustrated that I was basically filler between two segments, but kept listening . . . only two callers got on in the 75 minutes I listened. Glad at least one of them was me. See you all tonight!
