As a fan of both Dylan & Scorsese, I'm excited to hear about this project. It'll be interesting to see what early footage Scorsese is able to dig up.

Along the lines of Dylan documentaries, if you are a Dylan fan, check out D.A. Pennebaker's "Don't Look Back". It chronicles Dylan's 1966 tour of England and is great.

They tried to do a follow-up documentary of his return trip to England called "Eat the Document" but it failed. Dylan started staging scenes and Pennebaker left the project. I'd only recommend it to die-hard fans. It was shown on ABC back in the late 60's but I saw it at the Museum of TV & Radio in NYC. It might still be available there if you're really interested.

I'm very pleased, though I'm not necessarily a big Scorcese fan (I like most of his stuff, but I'm not passionate about it). I love the music in the Last Waltz, but I thought it was a bit shmaltzy, which was totally against the character of The Band (though I guess they have to take a lot of the blame for what I don't like about the movie). But I'll definitely be first in line for this. Has Scorcese ever done a documentary before? (not including The Last Waltz, which wasn't a conventional documentary)

I don't think you'll have to stand in line to see this. I think the article said it was going to be broadcast on PBS & BBC.
