Standard has the Wallon Darby today against Sporting Charleroi at home. Fossey and the entire city will be up for this one.

Fossey is not in the match-day squad. It is 2-1 for Standard in the 2nd half.

Ouch - he will be out 6-8 weeks.

"Our captain was injured last Tuesday at the end of the match against SK Beveren in the Round of 32 of the Croky Cup.
Unfortunately, tests revealed a tear in his left hamstring.
His recovery time is estimated at between 6 and 8 weeks.
We wish Marlon a speedy recovery."

Still out with an injury. Looks like the end of the Winter break. He could play this Saturday vs Dender (I will be at the match so I hope so), but not likely.

The team defeated Dender on a first min goal, very odd goal. They then set back and held on for a 0-1 victory. He should be out for the last match of Dec before the Winter Break.

Looks like he is healthy again as he was included on the team training camp in Spain.

    Interesting interview with Fossey.

    Some notes -
"You have always stated that you did not want to leave the club without having experienced the Playoffs 1 and European competition. Are you afraid that you will not be able to achieve this goal?
Fear? No, but do I still have that burning passion? Yes, every day. We're closer to achieving it than ever before. I still believe in it and I have faith in my team.
In June, there will be this World Cup, in your country in the United States, do you think you have a chance of being there?
Yes, but it will be a challenge. If I play well at Standard, I have a chance. That's all that matters.
So leaving the club in January is not an option?
    Non"

There is some video content as well.

I'm kind of surprised that he'd say "Yes" so matter-of-factly to his chances of making the WC roster. He's got one cap under Poch (a 45 minute appearance in the third place game against Canada last March) and has been called only to that one camp. Sure, there's a chance...but it's got to be extremely small and largely would rely on a whole bunch of injuries to RBs (or potential RBs who could play the position if needed--the list of which is pretty long for players who will almost assuredly be on the roster).

I saw the same thing. I wonder if it is simply wishful thinking or if there has been contact with the USMNT to make him think this. I think he is 3rd or 4th choice at right back.

See.....I just viewed the answer as motivation. He knows the chances are 5% but that percentage could provide a little fuel to his game. Fossey's probably looking at it like I two things to play for, European competition and a WC spot. Who knows...maybe he's poised to have a big second half of the season with those two motivators. I've always been a big fan.

"do you think you have a chance of being there"?
"Yes, but it will be a challenge".
he is American and has been capped. What could he say to that question? He handled it like a good professional!

he played very well in this match imo full 90 vs new zealand in sept 2024

much better than anything ive seen from sahq moore or harriel or any of the mlsers aside from freeman...and fossey is very good at crossing and serving balls in from out wide so he fits as a wingback imo

i think poch just wanted to force mls to create "competition" into the team and overlooked a guy like fossey to do so (unfairly)...and poch likely sees guys like weah and even mckennie as also in the mix at that spot

he deserves to be in the mix but will have a hard time beating out guys ike dest, freeman and even scally

Fossey got the start in "Le Classic" the match vs Anderlecht. He is still recovering from injury, but played a very strong first 45 min. Standard won the match 2-0.

Looks like they replaced 3 players at the half, trailing 3-0. So, I'd go with "no."

Standard are in the middle of a major injury situation. This was not a surprising result as it looked like prior to the match that Standard would field 7 defenders, simply because they had no other options. I think it was a tactical switch to try and fins something in the match.

Started and played almost 70 min in a 1-1 home draw with USG. Fossey had the assist and left the match when the score was 1-0.

i really like Fosseys game....feel like he gets slept on in the pool because its "just belgium" but this is high level play and also the same club onyewu played for most of his career FWIW

he also kinda suffers bc right back is maybe the deepest position in the pool as well....

Agreed. I have love for Fossey's game. It's more than energetic. It's effective. I think he suffers from Standard not being the historic Standard. The club has really been topsy turvy over the last few years. They don't the same quality of yesteryears. They are sitting 8th n the table; kind of in purgatory which is where they've sat for a while. Since 2019-20 they've finished 6th, 6th, 14th, 6th, and 14th.
