I can hear the fans of his new club now "we signed a new USMNT right back? Sweet, is he like Dest? That guy's fun. Scally? That guy's solid at a high level. Or is this the guy behind whatshis name - Shaq Moore?"
If we are talking about a club with a long tradition, I would agree. I think that he can be a starter at a Conference League club. Maybe not Chelsea, who is in the Conference League, but a normal one. I think he has one more level up. You point about looking good about half of the time is well taken. He reminds me of Timothy Chandler, dangerous moving forward, but can disappear going backwards. Highlights from the OHL match -
IMO his main problem is that he can be bodied off the ball a bit too easy. He usually has too many turnovers for a wingback.
That could easily be a thread on its own. Must have at least one Full NT cap. So Fossey not on it yet.
if we're including women's, Trinity Rodman's long pink braids for the women's gold medal winning team were epic
Did not play in the really boring match vs Canada. The Croky Cup Round of 32 Draw has been held. Standard Liege will host Lyra-Lierse Belgian 1st National League (3rd Division).
If I am Poch I like what he brought yesterday … separate from getting back quickly on D (granted New Zealand is not France) he had multiple wall pass runs down the flank half of which were ignored by his teammates … but the runs were there and he was energetic.
I think the general consensus is that he got forwards well, was active and had good movement. He was not asked to do much tracking back, but even when he was he was decent. I think that he might have opened a few eyes and might be a back-up to Dest. Now, if they want a rock solid back four, he is not a part of that. He is always going to be an attack first outside back.
I screamed when Musah missed him right before the half on one of those runs. Unfortunately I was on a very quiet airplane when it happened. Very tidy player. Announcer was saying Scally needs to watch out…no, if he shows like that with the MMT more, Dest needs to watch out too!
ONCE AGAIN here are some posts I made 2023 and 2022^ im banned from large swathes of this website (apparently for having "hairbrained opinions")..and have an army of haters on here i realize it is just new zealand...but fossey was MOTM and he looked like it was his 50th cap in his first fossey KILLED it vs NZ youre welcome
There’s a good chance when I’m in Germany at the end of Nov that I pop down to Liege and see Fossey play. If I can make the logistics work. I’m trying to hit a Saturday double header. Seeing Koln vs Hannover in 2BL action at 1pm and seriously contemplating hopping on an 65 minute train ride to Liege to catch Standard at 8:45P. Made to trip from Koln to Brussels via train several times and Liege is a stop on the route. Hopefully I can make it happen. Be cool to see in newly minted USMNT player in action.
I’ve done that trip. Used to live in Mainz. You’ll enjoy! Make the time to do it, because Liège is so beautiful as you well know from the region.
I’ve just seen Liege from the train window and was like woah… very pretty. I love that whole area. Spent 11 days in that area this summer while at the Euros in Koln. Made some quick half to full day trips to Brussels, Eindhoven, Antwerp, and Charleroi in between games. Really enjoyed my time in Belgium.
Liege is a great example of how a former industrial city can be beautiful again. I am planning with my son a trip where we can catch a match every day in Belgium. Most likely Cup matches as they spread them out a little more. Compact nation that is really diverse and beautiful. History during the day, Bratwurst and soccer in the evening!
Do that trip! I did something very similar literally right before the world shut down for COVID. My wife sent me on a solo baby moon (yes… she had her own ). 5 days. Basically 2 were travel days to / from Europe. Saw 3 matches in 3 days in 3 countries. Started in Rotterdam with Feyenoord vs Utrecht on Friday night. Then took a 75 min train ride to Brussels and saw Anderlecht vs Gent on Saturday. Then capped it off with a short trip to see Lille vs Nantes on Sunday. It took some planning especially with the trains. And of course I hit some hiccups but luckily gave myself time for potential hiccups. Really cool experience. Not me to really do the solo thing but said screw it. Got outta my shell and struck up English convos with home supporters and they kept me very “hydrated” throughout.
