1716152574737584569 is not a valid tweet id Marlon Fossey is having a great game against leader Anderlecht. An assist and involved in the third goal.
It's better than that - he was involved in the first goal as well. Mid first half, Anderlecht was up 3-0 on the scoreboard with three in ten minutes. But then, VAR deemed the third one offside, dragging it back to 2-0. And then ... in ten minutes in the second half, Standard create three goals up the right wing. First goal, Fossey hockey assist-ish play with a good combination in the right corner that leads to the goal. Second goal, great job beating a man up the line, and feeds Kawabe for a highlight reel shot. Third goal, Fossey's cross only partially cleared, falls to Ngoy, who puts in another highlight real goal for his first goal in the league. Fossey subbed out in the 80th, epic team win.
Scally and Dest are a tough tandem to overcome but I agree....I feel like he's very far off the radar for being so good. This is the same club Oguchi Onyewu was like the best national team defender at.....back in the day.....
Fossey is different than both, but is more creative in attack like Dest. He is worth a look. You never know until you put them in camp with other guys and let them compete.
He’s not the same as Dest, but he seems like more of a like-for-like for Dest than Scally is. I don’t know if that’s what we need, but I do think it’s something to consider trying out.
29 Oct Gent vs Standard 13:30 On ESPN + Fossey should start coming off his best match of the season. Standard has played well recently and Gent is coming off a 5-0 home win in the Europa Conference League on Thursday. Good news for Gent both Cuypers and Orban scored. This should be a fun match.
Strange match, Standard had 2 pks saved, and Gent had one saved. Fossey had an own goal which took his match rating down. The Own goal was originally not given as one, but it changed later.
5 Nov Standard vs Mechelen 10:00 Not on ESPN + On paper the inform Standard should crush out of form Mechelen. Where Standard watzed though their Cup match, Mechelen lost to a lower division team on PK's. Mechelen has not played well recently while Standard seems to have found the formula recently and have climbed the table. Fossey is critical to this success. He should get the start.
11 Nov Royal Antwerp vs Standard Liege 10:00 EST On ESPN + No world about Fossey's injury. I am not sure if he will make the bench or if he will start. We will see Saturday morning. Antwerp played their best half of the season last week vs Genk. If Standard is really going to play a role this season in the race for the top 4, they need to get points from matches like this.
Standard has not been a Top 4 in years. Last three seasons they finished #6. #14 and #6 out of 18 respectively. This season with 16 teams, they're likely to end in the second group (#7 to #12) playing for a Conference spot.
Agree. That is where the club is now. The fans have not come to terms with that, but that is the current state of Standard.
