Forgot to add that the CONCACAF draw will be two months from this Sunday, held on December 5th. The Magpie
The concacaf site is useless. Can someone point me to a listing of the team's in the draw and the format for the draw. You'd think that be right on the front page of the concacaf site!
Question will the draw include seeded teams or is it wide open? For example, the US, Mexico and Costa Rica could end up in the same 3-team preliminary group, with only one advancing to the next round. It's unlikely that all 3 would meet this way, but there is a chance 2 of them could. TFC representation could have a very new look in 2006 -- and a swifter exit, as well.
It has already been announced that the 12 qualifiers for the 2000 semifinals will be seeded and not face each other in the first round. The 12 being Costa Rica, Mexico, USA, T&T, Jamaica, Honduras, Canada, Panama, Barbados, El Salvador, St. Vincent, and Guatamala.
The 12 teams that made it to the semifinal round last time will be seeded, one in each group. USA, Mexico, Costa Rica, Canada, Jamaica, Guatemala, Trinidad, Panama, El Salvador, Barbados, Honduras, St. Vincent So the worst draw we could get would probably be Haiti and Cuba.
I'm so ready for this I wish we had a bit more warning on the first one, but hey, what can you do? There will be some mad dash planning in December.
I hope we get full tv coverage of all the qualifiers home and away. I heard someone say that last time was the first time that we got all the qualifiers shown. Well I think we sort of expect that they will be these days. I hope I am right.
Does anybody know some basics about the Bermudian National Team? I am moving there in December and would be so excited if they could get through to the Second Stage to see some good internationals
Other than the fact that Shaun Goater of Man City is from Bermuda, I know little about them. There is a very old and not updated website here: http://www.bermudafootballassociation.bm/
That would be great if for no other reason a cool place to see an away game. I would think 2nd round is highly unlikely though. However, everybody has to go through "full qualifying" this time, so you might see some good ones regardless of how far they make it.
Bermuda is part of the UK, so I would imagine that most of the good players try and get capped by England. Think Surinam and Holland.
There is a NEW schedule now: http://concacaf.com/view_article.asp?id=2235 The US won't start play until June.
