http://www.denverpost.com/Stories/0,1413,36~76~1418176,00.html I honestly don't know if anyone outside Colorado knows anything about this, but Marcus was one of the best RB prospects in the country when he entered Colorado (CU). Injuries, unhappiness with the staff, staff unhappiness with him, football coaches thinking he spent too much time working with his Just Say Know foundation he founded, are all speculative reasons why his career footballwise didn't take off in Boulder. Everyone was suprised he could play THIS YEAR and not have to sit out. No real surprise he has two years eligibility left though, he was a redshirt sophomore last year. Anyone have any comments on this? Football wise, this could be a hell of a coup for Sonny Lubick's Rams. Even if football doesn't work out, he's going to become one of CSU's more distinguished alumni very quickly. Big coup for the school there. Footballwise, it makes CSU-CU at Invesco Field THE SPORTING EVENT OF THE YEAR in Colorado. I need to look into getting tickets.
I'm surprised he went there, other than the fact that he probably wanted to stay in-state. But I had such high hopes for the kid, and all I saw was a huge massive bust. He might have had one or two whole runs as a CU player that were imperssive. Even healthy he didn't seem that impressive to me. He might have a better year next season playing against Mountain West 'defenses' as opposed to Big 12 defenses, but I don't see much coming from him.
Not to mention that CU is a lot deeper at running back, especially with CSU losing Cecil Sapp to graduation. As much as this may be a positive for CSU, I'm not sure it is a huge negative for CU (unless, in the unlikely event that he scores a bunch of touchdowns at Mile High). He's a good guy for sure, college football could use more kids like him, but I don't think he'll be missed. Good luck to him, except on August 30!
had a great change of speed, but fumbled way too much. The kid who played great against OU is gonna have to carry a huge load this year, as our schedule is insane, we got no QB, and half the coaching staff left for UCLA
Bobby Purify and Brian Calhoun will carry the ball for the Buffs. Redshirt or true frosh at QB, mostly new O Line, could get ugly in September.
Yeah it could, considering we have one of the toughest schedules in the nation, again. It does make it interesting though (road games against Kansas State, Florida State, eek, and home games against Oklahoma, Washington State, UCLA), as opposed to the University of Nebraska, who has their scheduled game against Northeast Waterloo State University at home this year for the umpteenth time in a row....is it a requirement to put out a pathetic non-conference schedule if you're from Nebraska or Kansas State?
Yes. Although K-State starting doing it in the late 80s/early 90s to get every win they could while building their program up. They've tried a bit to upgrade, with USC the last 2 years. I think they had Auburn on a future schedule but someone may have backed out.
