Arsene Wenger has revealed that Marcos will not be joining Arsenal before the end of this season as the Brazilian goalkeeper must first sort out his personal life. Marcos flew to London for talks over personal terms this week after his club, Palmeiras, had agreed a £2.4million fee. Arsenal had been hoping the Brazil stopper would agree to join immediately, providing cover for David Seaman for the rest of this season before contesting the number one jersey thereafter. However, he has flown back to South America without a deal being agreed and with a warning from Wenger that he must resolve issues in his personal life. These are believed to include the fact that his girlfriend is four months pregnant, while Marcos had reportedly also been looking to bring other members of his family with him to London. As a result, Wenger will now be forced to seek another goalkeeper - 'whoever I can get' - on loan until the end of this season, although he insisted that he would not move for Nigel Martyn. 'Marcos is certainly not the solution for this season so I'll look for another `keeper. He will not come before June as he has personal problems to sort out,' he revealed. 'Negotiations are going on and the situation will be reassessed in May to see what we do. 'I admire Marcos and I think he has a great personality but nothing has been finalised and he must decide whether he wants to come to Europe.' Asked what the main problem is, Wenger replied: 'He wants to come here but has some personal problems to sort out and has to make the decision that he wants to come to Europe. 'If he comes to Europe, then he will certainly come to Arsenal, but nothing has been completed.' If Marcos does arrive, however, he would then challenge Seaman and speculation has already begun that the England international could retire and become the club's goalkeeping coach. Wenger nevertheless insisted: 'David will go as far as he can and it's not up to him to make the decision to stop. 'It's always difficult to keep everyone happy though. In fact, I have never managed to do that!'
