March Happy Hour - 4Ps Anyone? Well, the February Happy Hour was a blast, but March is almost upon us, and it's time to start thinking about the next one! Any suggestions? As a possible supplementary (read: weekend) Happy Hour, I just noticed that The Prodigals (a very good NY-based Irish rock outfit) are playing at Irelands Four Provinces (a/k/a the 4Ps) on Saturday, March 20th. The 4Ps reserves tables for shows such as this, and I have reserved a small table - however, they said they can accomodate groups of any size (if you book early enough), so if anyone else wants to meet up that night to discuss DCU and listen to kick-booty Irish tunes, post or PM me, and I'll add you to the reservation. (I forgot to ask what the cover is, but it's usually $5-$10.)
Some of the hard core hh-ers will be in South Carolina the weekend of the 20th and the 27th. What about Fri, March 12? K
That works for me. (I prefer Fridays to Thursdays, since I can 1) sleep in the next day, and 2) be relatively assured of escaping from work early enough to attend. But that's just me. )
Bump. Anyone up for a March happy hour? I mean, if it's just me, I can just put on my scarf, head to any old bar I please, and call it the official happy hour...but I've gotta admit, that wouldn't be as much fun. Oh, and I've got two BS takers on the Prodigals show at the 4Ps on Saturday 3/20. If anyone else wants in, let me know by Friday afternoon, so I can adjust the table reservation accordingly (after that, no guarantees, but I can still try). Come on, Meridian, you know you want to see these guys!
OK, the 12th is THIS FRIDAY and I think with the usual suspects going out of town the 19th and 26th for the Carolina Cup, the will be the last chance for a pre-season happy hr. I'd like to offer up the Irish Channel Pub in Chinatown, http://www.irishchannelpub.com/ I've never been here but I've been wanting to try. A friend of mine who's a beer snob loves it and it has great reviews in the Post:http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp-dyn?node=entertainment/profile&id=1070401 Check out the beer list, it's quite extensive (as well as the whiskey). We could do some pre-St Paddy's day celebrating before the bars get crowded. Anyone interested? K
I am always interested in drinking with my DC United brothers and sisters. Let me know the time and place and I'll be there with my drinking boots on... As if I don't wear them everyday...
Well, unless there's a huge outcry from the peanut gallery, let's give the Irish Channel a try on Friday. Start time 5:30-whenever. Directions on on their website http://www.irishchannelpub.com/Directions.htm K
Thread title change, please. Mods: Could you please edit the thread title to something like: "March Happy Hour: Friday, 3/12 at Irish Channel"? Thanks!
excellent choice for Happy Hour I not sure I know any of you guys -perhaps I've seen you guys at games or at the BB tailgates, but I do know the Irish Channel very well. Its the closest pub to my office (therefore a regular hangout) and the sponsor of my dart team. The place is great in many ways - good beer selection, tasty food, and fantastic staff. An inspired selection for a happy hour. I wish I could make it on friday to introduce meself, but I have a free business-related HH to attend. I'm sure you all will enjoy the Channel - check out the autographed United Ball I've loaned them - its over the bar

3 times the fun ! wow- cut off the starbucks for me - didnt realize i'd posted the same message thrice sign me- spazz
I think I'll be able to make it. Is this one of those places that magically turns into a "gentleman's club" at 8PM as well???
Unfortunately, I think it doesn't turn into a gentleman's club. But, I think that I will be there. (I'm sure that this information isn't any consolation after the first piece of information though.)
"gentlemen's clubs" If you really need that type of entertainment, theres a skanky place called 'Louis' the Rogue' two blocks away at 5th and K. The newly opened Coyote Ugly is in the old Rock bar around the corner, for a PG-13 experience. I cant recommend either, and would hope the Channel is all you need. (wink wink nudge nudge) BTW, the Channel is on the ground floor of the Red Roof Inn, the only building on that side of H between 6th and 5th. they're likely to have live music around 8pm, Happy Hour prices 4-7 I believe. give my Regards to Marcus and Amy! Andy
Re: "gentlemen's clubs" I will add as we won't be too far from my old college stomping grounds, that this is far from the skankiest place in that general area.
